16 years on ebay, and SIMPLE DELIVERY is the final straw. IM CLOSING MY ACCOUNT DOWN :(

I have been on ebay for 16 years now. 2800 feedback at 100%, I have a system that works, that I have perfected, that I have invested in.

Ebay now steam roll their way into my postage system/strategy and dictate how I have to post my items.

I have been on the fence for a little while now contemplating leaving ebay (in particulalry with the buyers protection fee saga), but the forcing of simple delivery I am going to walk away.

Its not my first choice, having spoken to a customer service and begged them to remove simple delivery from my account, but I am told it is now the default method as a personal seller and sorry but thats the way it is now bucko!

Thanks ebay, you were a great platform for me over the years. Unfortunately you've pushed too hard this time, and its not working in my favour anymore.

I've been on the fence with Vinted and Etsy over the years, now its time to see if the grass is greener over there.

All the best,

I notice that items bought from China to deliver to UK as in past item say £60 would charge £11.40 delivery, but now such clothing items are cheaper, but delivery from China set at £36.00 is this effect of tariffs or related to Ebay delivery charges.?

Re: 16 years on ebay, and SIMPLE DELIVERY is the final straw. IM CLOSING MY ACCOUNT DOWN :(

I have been sticking with eBay since the SD was introduced. Since then, I have sold 4 items. Two of these I could do my normal postage via Royal Mail, where I picked my options myself. The other two I had to go with eBay's SD!

Maybe I have had a good experience with these two items, both of which were sold for over £60 each. But in using SD, the first item was with Evri and it was safely delivered, and the label process worked fine and my local post office also does Evri and Amazon and ParcelForce collections, so I have a good local service only 10 minutes walk from me.

The second item postage was via Royal Mail, and again the label was easy. ( I do have a printer at home). And again was easy to drop off at my local post office.

One thing I was a little perplexed about and I haven't investigated yet, is that the Evri postage was deducted from my eBay balance, while the Royal Mail was taken from my PayPal account (which I don't use that often, so it was good that I had a small balance in there)

I have yet to use the SD service for smaller and cheaper items, so I will see what happens.

On my first experiences, I think if eBay continue to refine the SD service, then this may be usable.

Am I wrong in thinking that once you sell an item the buyer then can choose which postage they want, which could mean you are running around doing drop off at one place, going to the post office for another and so on? I do not have a printer and being in a rural area I had all my parcels collected, all tracked, easy!. And as for weights and sizes of your parcels, just so complicated. I also do not understand why they are deducting postage from you when you are still paying for it. Or does the customer pay for it separately, just ughhhhh, don’t get it, eBay, just put it back to how it was.! 😞

You can go into your postage preferences and switch either RM or Evri off. If you had any sense, you'd switch Evri off permanently.

I was made on offer for a stool I am selling, I was happy with the price, but said it ws collection only the asked if I could post but when I checked with themoney grabbers new system I could only use evri or RM now like stools it is higher than 61cm so could not use RM only Prcelforce,   but the  MONEY GRABBERS  will not let me chane so sale lost, and when I spoke to them they would not explain why, but I could but the price up 15,oo and have it post free, but what if they collect whyshouild they pay 15.00 more, no answer I also asked why they do not take COD, to protected they say, and not if they do you cannot claim the buyers protection feee said I

Re: 16 years on ebay, and SIMPLE DELIVERY is the final straw. IM CLOSING MY ACCOUNT DOWN :(

I have only just started reading this from the original post as have received a message from ebay today saying that from 20th May (presumably the final deadline) you will have no option at all to do what you have written above and keep arguing with the screen until it changes to what you want.

I only started selling at the end of last year but have constantly had to do this with every listing, as they will keep taking you back to simple delivery, not to mention telling me what I should be charging for my items using examples that do not compare to mine, trying to insist that I include best offer, which I do not want to as have tried to price my items fairly in the the first place. Perhaps the most annoying is that I am constantly told I have not included lots of item specifics which I prefer to include in my own description, yet they have completely stopped buyers from being able to filter in item specifics so in many cases buyers may not even see your item. The reason behind this seems to be that you can then pay them a fee to promote your item but they don't seem to understand that if they are collector's items, most people are not going to buy a promoted item instead of the one they want.

I was pleased with how things went over Dec to Feb, but since then, very little interest shown.

I don't have a smartphone so I have just gathered I will have to use Evri to post items. I was completely happy to sort my own post on Tracked 48 Royal Mail, with good results and want to continue with that but obviously won't be able to.

When I had the SD option foisted unexpectedly on me, the postage rates seemed to be a lot more expensive.  I didn't take too much notice at the time but has anyone else noticed this.  Also I have sold some horse rugs in the past.  How will Ebay distinguish between a lightweight rug for a small horse and a thick winter rug for a large horse because the difference in weight is substantial.

Answering my own question, I have just checked the amount I paid for a parcel I sent yesterday and it was more expensive than if I went directly to RM.

I think it should now go outside the eBay community, as this is just robbery
