New EBay user here, I listed a high value item on eBay ($1,500) and immediately had a buyer. The buyer then asked to text due to some questions concerning the product (5,000 blu-rays). The buyer then explained how he/she was a navy officer and was sending this package as a gift to her cousin in Portland. He/She then asked if I would include a 400 dollar gift card and that he/she would pay 2,000 instead of the 1,500. well, me being the naive and gullible newbie told him/her that sure, I will send your cousin a gift card with the package once the money has been deposited into my account. Then, he/she sent the 2k which is now pending. The buyer then said I needed to take a picture of the gift card and send it to paypal (some phony email address they provided) before the funds would clear. That was red flag #5 or so. First, their name and location changed again and again. The name on eBay was different from the email name. also, the eBay user's location was Australia but the mailing address was Florida. the only reason i didn't email throw my hands up was because the user had a LOT of positive feedback. however, nothing in at least a year. Meaning they likely somehow obtained a really old and successful username somehow. possibly a dead person. I didn't buy the gift card or send them anything; my question is what do I do with the listing now? There is no "cancel due to scammer option". I didn't receive payment. I didn't ship an item. Will the listing eventually go away? Also, can I expect scammers any time I list a high value item since I have no feedback? Thanks for yalls time, patrick
