Help for a refund

I closed a open request but returned the item and now the seller says I need to open the request for a refund or something about a resolution case which I don't know what that is. I have messaged to let him know the case is closed and I don't know what to do and he is not answering me now and has received the item. Can you help.

Help for a refund

They can still refund but this need to be done directly on the order. This is completely voluntary on the part of the seller.

You should not have closed the case without a refund.

Just tell them they can still refund directly from that order and see what they say.

Help for a refund

Given the fact that you closed the case when you shouldn't have done - ie:  before the seller had issued the refund - and you have actually admitted to the seller in your messages that you have closed the case, he is more than likely deliberately ignoring you now, knowing full well that you cannot open another eBay case against him in relation to the same transaction.  If the seller is deliberately ignoring you now that you've closed the case then I wouldn't hold out much hope of him voluntarily refunding your money in full.

As a result of the above you've just made it a lot harder for yourself with regards to securing a refund from the seller.  Had you kept the case open the seller could have refunded you via the case, and if he had failed to do so after three working days had passed from the date that you opened the case, you would then have had the option to escalate the case to eBay in order to get them to step in and force the refund.  However, by closing the case, whether you did so accidentally or deliberately, you will have given eBay the impression that the matter has been settled amicably between you and the seller, so you're going to have a far harder time securing your refund than you would have done had you not closed the case.

In view of the above I would advise you to get in contact with eBay Customer Services about this matter using the following link https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/eua?id=5275&mkevt=1&mkpid.  When you click on that link a new page will load up.  Scroll right down to the bottom of the page and click on the blue button to request a phone call from an eBay representative and you should receive a call shortly afterwards.

When you receive the phone call from the eBay representative explain what you have mentioned here in this thread, and give the item listing number and the seller's User ID to the eBay represetative so that he or she can find the item in question.  If you get lucky and get through to a helpful eBay representative then if you say that you closed the case by accident and ask if they could help you to get your money back then they may agree to help you, but this cannot be guaranteed under the circumstances.  However, there's no harm in asking, so get in touch with eBay Customer Services and see what they say.  The lines are open from 8:00am to 10:00pm from Monday to Friday and from 9:00am to 6:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.  The best option is to request a phone call early on in the morning when the lines first open, as that way you're more likely to get through to an eBay representative based in Dublin, as opposed to an eBay representative working out of eBay's Philippines-based call centre, which may well end up being the case if you wait until later on in the day to contact them.

If the seller won't cooperate and contacting eBay Customer Service proves unsuccessful then you should still be able to get a refund by contacting your payment provider (PayPal or Card issuer).

Help for a refund

Okay thanks for your help I will phone them in the morning and let you know the outcome. I don't know why I sent it back once I closed the case, too trusting, but he will be getting a negative review that's for sure 😊
