I tried to buy a copy of an LP.
I always set UK Only on location for the search
I wanted a new album and was searching for the cheapest
I stepped into an advert and on that page was a better offer.
I selected it and paid
Then i immediately realised the Album was coming from the States. OOps free postage but still not UK.
I went into cancellation mode and ebay kept saying cannot cancel try again. After about a minute ebay came back with a cancellation page. I cancelled as per the instructions and got cancellation request sent to supplier.
So remember this is only 2 minutes in from the purchase i got a message from the supplier Cancellation Refused. I got a message from the supplier
"Dear Customer
I'm very sorry, I attempted to cancel your order but it has already progressed too far in the shipping process. There is no way for me to prevent it from shipping out to you.
Order has been shipped 06/24/2025 as per tracking RRD070646411096523.
Let us know when you received the order to provide return instructions.
I am sorry for the inconvenience. Sincerely.
Thank you "
This is within 2 minutes of purchase.
The Album has arrived and my guess is the rigmarole will be "customer has cancelled" and i will have to pay the return postage to the States.
I always thought there was a cooling off period and you could cancel as long as the item hasnt been picked or shipped.
I contacted the supplier asking for a shipping label and have heard nothing 24 hours later!

Rotten customer service but why not just keep the album?

Between cancelling the order and the email saying sorry i ordered a UK copy.
My main concern was that a copy coming from the States would take weeks and maybe have duty via customs. I thought i had cancelled the order quickly enough. So was free to order from another source.

Unfortunately buyers have no right of cancellation and there's no cooling off period for overseas purchases.

I've had similar problem when I ordered wrong model of printer. Cancelled within 20 minutes but seller claimed he'd bought non-cancellable Evri delivery. (It came by Royal Mail!)
I would have thought with a US seller it seems unusual to get freepost, fast delivery an have no customs to pay. There should also have been "VAT" added when you came to pay so you would have noticed it was coming from the US.
If the US seller has stock in the UK you may only have to pay to return it to the UK - or you could always return the UK copy, if you're still in time. Your seller may be waiting for you to open a eBay return, if you haven't already.
If he's a private seller he doesn't have to accept returns, unless faulty of course.
