this is an "does any one else" post, because it is affecting a number of my listings and doing the fix the way Customer Service wants me to involves making a brand new listing where all my track record sales, feedback and views are gone. . So that is a no-go. The listing I had was one of my top five best sellers so kinda crying right now. The Customer Rep I was on the phone with last night conveniently hung up just as I was about to vipe the old listing, so she wouldn't hear my anger I guess?
I believe it is an IT error and has nothing to do with me. I am unable to update inventory using either edit function or the updater on the active listings page, each time it is the same error:
"The postage and handling costs cannot be changed if an auction-style listing has a bid or ends within 12 hours, or a fixed price listing has a pending Best Offer."
If anyone else, let me know what you did to resolve or just respond if you hate online computer systems as much I do right now.

Well the obvious thing to ask is, Do you have pending offers on the listings?
If you don't know how to check this, go to the inventory page and on the action button, click "review all offers".

When you try to edit are there padlocks on the images, is the title grayed out, along with the description?
Which would as @therenewalworkshopltd says means there is an offer outstanding on it.
If that is the case, you should be able to edit quantity.

Thank you I would accept your answer as the correct one, except, it doesn't work! They've obviously done something to the site. I waited another 24 hours, lo and behold, the offer has expired and can update quantity as usual.
