Hi
We have been selling on ebay for over 10 years. Sales have been down since start of 2024 but its completely dead. Like we look at our stats from July to September and sales figures are less that what we are paying ebay for Promoted listings etc.
Although we have moved our inventory to Amazon and tiktok but wondered what has actually happened to our Ebay. It used to be aweseome but we now cannot even afford to list. Listings are sat there doing nothing even with promoted listings.
November has been our difficult month so far as with Zero sales i mean come on there got to be something causing this loss. Is it new so called AI.
Please share your findings.🤔🤔

Agreed - I have spent time on reporting obvious businesses under the private and they come back with no violations.... also those selling used cosmetics and perfumes. I have had some success with these but usually get the same no violations particularly if those items have bids on and have reached high.
I am not bothering anymore... it is not my job to keep eBay "policies" in check!

My products we're selling for £23.95 with free postage, did quite well for about 5 years lots of happy customers. Temu, similar products, less than £5.
Say no more

Hi Theglo-68,
I too have found the same. I've tried optimizing titles subscriptions, give-away sales, ad promotions free shipping - all things that generate ebay a lot of money.
I've tried on many occasion to feed-back constructively to eBay senior leadership, but just get back the same scripted answers and the onus is always on the seller not doing something right.
They're not listening and are running their AI-Driven support, listing, pricing, ad systems before they have been properly tested.
It's killing microbusinesses and promoting big brands, unfair advertising campaigns. It's a race to the bottom on pricing and profit margins. eBay does not understand this is not sustainable. It's sad...
BTW I'm a AI strategy & ethical governance advisor to senior leadership teams, by profession.

I just don't get how some business sellers do it. You look at their listings, and the postage cost is actually more than the item they are selling. They must be making pennies.

I was generating 74k in sales on eBay per annum and now it’s a ghost town. So bad that I had to recently give up my eBay store and the marketing perks…but they weren’t working any way. It’s also an economic “thing” we’ve been able to offer only less and customers can’t afford more if anything at all…so in some way a natural spiral. I do see sales increase when we add new stock which revives old listings. To this end it is clear eBay are wringing out the best of what is left in terms of exposure to functioning mega listers. I sold rare vinyl records and precious metals so I can’t list thousands of items as they are all very high value. I think 300 or so was my highest and yet generating nearly an 80k income on eBay alone per year. Now it’s dead. I should have sold thousands of bits of *bleep* from China at a pound a piece lol. Something is definitely not right with eBay but I do think whatever is going on serves eBay.

Yep I have folded a few stores. I think Temu and cheapo Chinese products make ebay less of a market than it used to be and in 2024 it fell through the roof . In the UK cost of living has drained the pockets of consumers . Put that together and you have the current dire circumstances.

I am in exactly the same place. Sadly when I think each month that I am hitting the deepest deep already next month is even worse.
You all have right, ebay improvements from last 3 years especially are killing our profit. I don't have to say what improvements exactly as we all know which. Other thing is limited access to foreign markets due to many new regulations and additional taxes. Sales to EU, USA and Australia dropped from 40 % of total sales into maybe 5%..........
Chinese sellers are copying everything including licensed images from our ebay listings and producing fake products using stolen images and when we reporting this to ebay guess what...nothing. Thiefs are still selling fake goods, the worst is that they sell these for 1/3 of our prices.
Our products are licensed, cerified, fsc, ce, greenguard certified etc and simpy too expensive to be competition to chinese cheap fake cxxx. Sadly I see no future here after so many sucessful years with ebay.
If we would be switching off paid ads we would be already closed. Now we are simply selling out everything to clear up space and close down our shop.

Our eby sales have just about collapsed.
This still is the premiere site .. it looks nice to browse for items but there
are a few things that are a step in the wrong direction.
*Live agent access..no matter what ..making it impossible to reach a live agent
has become impossible here in the US unless you do it in a round about way.
If you want to keep eby viable to sell high ticket items.. an agent needs to be
accessible to the buyer INSTANTLY.
Click HELP ..Reason BUYING...boom phone number needs to appear.
A buyer has concerns about buying an expensive item, the LAST thing that person
needs is to be directed to "essays" to read that have nothing to do with what they're concerns are
nor to an automated chat with a brainless AI.
That is low class service which is not fertile ground for selling high end goods.
That is what concerns me eby is like the Cadillac of these online sites
but that is genuine low tier policy.
Next..Economically things are contracting..remove any ideas of increased fees
at this point it's like killing the golden goose (sellers)
Also I am in US and International sales have reduced in a big way..what happened ?
Whatever ridiculous policies EU implemented which Uk usually follows (because it is in
semi Brexit) has killed international sales.
(You will have nothing and be happy )
Anyway we sold one item last week for $90 in what usually is our best month
where January people usually bought good things for themselves
after Christmas gift giving that would total around $15k for the month.
This year mid month we have not even sold $1k. That is collapse.

Totally agree!!! A telephone number to contact EBay should be easier to find. I’ve tried to request call backs and sometimes get an automated response that they’ve tried but I didn’t answer. I was standing right next to the phone for 10 minutes and no call came through. It seems they don’t even bother to call you back if they are in high demand. No number to call them so you are left trying to type your issue on the live chat which can be a nightmare when trying to explain issues.
Then to incase seller fees for what is a poor service already would be a stupid move on EBay’s part because they will loose unhappy sellers who will never return as a future buyer because of the way in which they were treated and unlike EBay, many sellers have morals and wouldn’t treat their customers the way EBay as a seller treats us sellers.

I am a long term private seller, selling the same sort of things for years
I used to regularly get 20 bids, 200 views, 30 watchers and similar for my better items.
Now I am lucky to get 5 views, 1 bid for almost the same stuff.
For me ebay has increasingly driven away those that started on it - private sellers and casual buyers, instead becoming more and more shop driven. And now those products are cheaper elsewhere so less and less people come anywhere near ebay now.

You have a link to your listings ?
23-01-2025 3:36 PM
It's very easy to find someone's listings - just click the ID, or search for it.
Not really sure why you would want to see what I have for sale - my opinion is based on the last twelve to eighteen months, not this often slack period of the year (when I normally only have a small handful of things for sale)

That account? If you put @ followed by the relevant moniker people would know who you're talking about.

Not really sure why you are obsessing over my account but there are - for reasons unknown if you click my name it only activates the number part. If you click "view listings" then it takes you to the listings.
But as said, really has no relevance on the point I made, as that was based on many months of use during which I regularly had a minimum of 100 listings at a time.

Well not replying to customers doesn’t help anyone trying to sell. The Customers that are left will give up on eBay fast if they message a seller with an attitude like this who can’t be bothered to reply SMH
