When you list something e-Bay estimate the cost. Providing you don't over-rule that Recommendation that's all you, or the Buyer, will pay even if it proves to be too little.
If you aren't messing about with 'Free' postage you only need to enter what you want for the item itself. If it sells, e-Bay charge the Buyer and then send you a label.

I don't believe this was a Simple Delivery label. Looking at the OP's items many of them are under £10.00 and have "custom postage"; i.e. Royal Mail 2nd Class.
@cazpet can you confirm this was custom postage; i.e. you paid for the postage label?

I haven't got the option to use custom postage I know I should but it doesn't come up on my listing. It is very confusing, another case of it it ain't broke don't fix it

re your listings
Clothes and China aren’t eligible for custom in general, ties probably are as they’re an accessory
coins are eligible
Small or medium parcel is the same or cheaper with SD for general clothing that needs a parcel

I agree with that but my listing still states the Royal Mail price i.e. £2.10 for under 200g but EBay insist on charging £2.70 or even £2.94
