So usually when I sell multiple items to a buyer I send them an invoice and adjust the postage accordingly - there is no such option there at the moment - there is a link to combine items so I click on that and then try and collate them there and get this message

uk buyers when trying to paying for multiple items at checkout [which they can do] with simple delivery it recalculates the weight of 1 item by adding the weight of one x how many won.. i.e 100g small parcel max weight 1 kilo then x by amount won increase postage cost to 4 5 6 ect kilo causing more problem
Not ideal then, and not a good ' fix' !

Maybe Ebay need to explain to all buyers how this new postal system work, I wonder how much time private sellers have to spend answering emails from buyers explaining they now have nothing to do with the postage cost or not being able to combine postage also I wonder how many sales they loose just because they had to tell a buyer they are no longer able to control the price off postage or offer combined postage . I do understand how SD calculates the final cost but that only works if every item is the same weight not if items are different weights .

I have a buyer who has just bought 4 items from me, she has sent me a message to say ebay has put together a combined invoice and if it's ok she will pay.
Naturally ebay hasn't seen fit to share this invoice with me so I've had to ask my buyer for the info to check if they've got the postage right.
I'm still seeing the option to send an invoice, until I click on it and I get a message saying I can't.
Will they ever get it right?

I wonder if your buyer first put those 4 items into her ' basket' first, and from there eBay combined the postage?
As you rightly ask.... ' Will they ever get it right? ' 😶

Well, if they were all S.D. and they were all 'buyer pays'...
Whatever label you get sent by ebay will be honoured by whichever courier has been chosen.
Apparently.
So who cares if it's actually correct?

'Hi, My local post office is getting a bit fed up with having to take
parcels with insufficient postage paid!'
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's not entirely suprising really !... but this is the hill ebay have chosen to die on, so it's up to them to sort their own mess out with the chosen couriers.
If they want to force people into using their awful un-simple simple delivery, they'll have to make sure their postal partners will accept the results.

Why exactly? It doesn't affect them at all and as they don't have to weigh or measure the parcels, unless it's something very heavy/large, then it should actually be better for them.apart from the fact that they get less commission for prepaid labels.

Well, they charged my buyer for 2 labels and sent me 2 labels. The post office took the parcel with one of them but I don't know how much postage it covered.
I just wish we could go back to the old system that worked!
I did see somewhere that items under £10 were supposed to be exempt from simple delivery, but it doesn't seem to be happening.
