We've spent hundreds of hours trying to recover from the "Simple Delivery" roll out fiasco. Thousands of listings. Postage refund requests because they always got the size wrong, none have been refunded and had to absorb the costs, no leeway for postage material costs. But Now that we were finally over the bulk of them. ebay decided to change 1000's to free postage, and charge oversized prepaid labels. Medium parcel for an envelope!? WTH?

Simple delivery is for private sellers. Business sellers can choose their own postage prices and couriers.

I'm not a business seller, just selling a lifetime of collecting. Switching from buyer pays postage to free postage arbitrarely is outright wrong...

It has happened to me on my private account, and you're right, it shouldn't happen.
However, I think you do need to reconsider whether you are a genuine private seller. I'm not convinced, to put it mildly, and I don't think you'll stand a chance of convincing HMRC if it comes down to it. You even refer to "doing business" in many of your feedback comments.
