Sales Are Too Slow Jun 2025 -

Hello everyone, how are you doing? I see many sellers are facing slow sales right now—it’s really difficult, especially when you have to pay for warehouse rent and other expenses.

In my case, I have almost 1,000 listings and only get less than 17 sales per day -  these are low value items. Before I used to get 150 sales daily, so this is a big problem.

Because of this, I am thinking of canceling my monthly subscription and keeping only 200 listings to save money.

Thank you.

What shop subscription level do you have? With the number of listings you have the best/cheapest subscription level would be a featured shop subscription. You would still need a basic shop subscription even with 200 listings as without a shop subscription you pay a listing fee for every item. The number of listings where a shop subscription becomes the more economically viable option is as follows:

  • Basic shop: 90 listings: 90 x 30p = £27.00
  • Featured shop: 140 listings: (140 - 90) x 10p = £50 (£77 - £27 = £50)
  • Anchor shop: 8,700 listings (8,700 - 1,500) x 5p = £360.00 (£437.00 - £77.00 = £360.00)

This is why I don't envy business sellers who have put all their eggs in eBay's basket.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Re: Sales Are Too Slow Jun 2025 -

It seems to me that they are trying to kill off ebay.

As a private Seller people are not going to pay the supplement and now only Simple Delivery can be chosen which makes more money for ebay and costs more for the buyer because sellers usually have better postage rates or absorb some of the postage cost.  For low value items it is unfeasible. MAYBE THE BRAINS AT EBAY WILL WORK THIS OUT EVENTUALLY BUT IN THE MEANTIME THEY WILL LOSE MANY LOYAL PRIVATE SELLERS.

Maybe the brains at Ebay will also work out the business seller trading on private accounts.

That would improve the seller experience and give them more confidence to buy.

I'm a private seller - now this new protection fee increases my price. I have sold 1 item this June, it's a joke!

Also a lot of costumers go on holiday and save for their pocket money, usually it gets better end of September bc they all spend their money on the summer holiday.

You aren't a private seller though are you? Unless you consider that mother earth has gifted you the plants and quails eggs.

Re: Sales Are Too Slow Jun 2025 -

As a Private Seller I haven't noticed any difference to any time since I've been using e-Bay: some things sell first try, some need a few attempts and a few prove utterly worthless, or worth less than the postage.  The Buyer Protection Fee can be off-set by my selling at lower prices, ie the amount I want rather than the amount I want plus e-Bay Seller Fees.

As a Buyer the fee doesn't bother me if the total doesn't exceed what I'm happy to pay for that particular thing.

I don't buy as much from businesses on e-Bay as I used to as more companies have got there own e-commerce sites which tend to be cheaper, especially as regards postage costs.  We all know there's no such thing as "Free Postage" and buying several items from an e-Bay Seller with "Free" postage costs more than from a company who charge a fee per order.  There's also no incentive to see what else a Seller is offering that may be worth having as one is committed to paying for a delivery in any case.

Cacas vendit.

17 sales/day on 1000 listings is still 1.7% of listings selling each day. That's pretty good. 15% selling each day would have been amazing. I get around 0.6% of my listings selling each day (1 sale a day on around 160 listings) which is enough for me as I'm only trying to get rid of junk.

The problem is not eBay, the problem is the bad economic situation and I'm afraid it will get worse. Everything is getting more expensive and people are losing their jobs.

Re: Sales Are Too Slow Jun 2025 -

Sorry. The problem IS eBay.

It is just plain stupid for eBay to push through new BP charges and impose Simple Delivery at this time of economic difficulty where everyone is counting their pennies.

Timing is everything!

Then how come I was able to get a stagnant listing on ebay that had been getting no interest for around a year and relist on another platform with the same photos and description and it got plenty of views and sold quickly for a higher price? Ebay are the main problem here as stuff is selling better elsewhere. Stuff is still selling here eventually but at a slower rate. One sale a day on average is fast enough for me as I don't want to be inundated with buyer inquiries and packing and have plenty of storage space but it's still slow as my stuff is taking 6+ months to sell on average.

Maybe they should say "Sell for free*, maybe this year, maybe later"

* Obviously not free as you have the cost of reducing you price to cover layers of ebay fees

Re: Sales Are Too Slow Jun 2025 -

its all about the fees gone on ebay ebay will not really sell your items unless you give them 30% or more in fees and people are wondering why they not getting sales its simple ebay have gone greedy sellers have to sell they items at a much hire cost to pay for rip off sponsored listing fees making it lot more expsive for sellers and buyers ask your self this who wants to buy stuff on ebay gone its cheaper on amazon and most of the time faster delivery times ebay will be a thing of the past before long gutted as ebay used to be great place to sell on!!
