Forced into a more difficult system. I only use royal mail 48hr tracked,  no choices here, only eBay tracked. Once I have cleared the items I have I will no longer sell on eBay. Just not worth the grief. I have been on a buying spree recently for small craft items. In about 2 months I have had 3 items vanish, 2 items delayed and postage to be paid.  More problems thsn in padt 20 years! I do I do not feel very happy at committing my items for sale. Ok have your simple system, may be you think it is better. But at least allow proven track record ebayers a choice. I feel bullied. Until you do this is my last eBay selling of my excess items and i have been a member for over 20 years. That and the random search engine settings you now use...

What is the point any more???? I don't know

In your post you keep  stating,  ' You have done this, ' and until ' You do this'....    You are only talking to eBay members here,  just like yourself,  buyers and sellers,  not eBay themselves ,  they do not come to these forums,  (more's the pity 🙄 ).

Simple Delivery is mandatory for Private sellers,  and here to stay. 

Yes, it's not liked by many,  there have been mile long threads from disgruntled  members,  and I'm no flag waver,  it's not faultless by any means,  BUT,  it does have some big pluses.

An item sent by Simple Delivery,  if lost in the post or arrives damaged in transit to the buyer,  then eBay pick up that refund,  they refund the buyer, and the seller gets to keep the payout.

That can't be bad.

As said,  many things need to be ironed out, changed,  corrected,  was it introduced a tad too early ? 🤔

In my humble opinion.....   Yes.
