Disclosing reserve price

A buyer is asking me to disclose my reserve price. Should I tell them?

Disclosing reserve price

Yes definitely.

It gives them an idea of the price you want and will stop them placing countless bids , even retracting them as they're not reaching the given reserve.

They'll know if it's worth bidding, and if they can afford to buy your item.

You're welcome.  As a future tip, remember using reserves,  a listing upgrade,  will cost you 4% of the set reserve,  this is payable sale or no sale,  and charged the second the item goes live.

Just start auctions for the lowest amount you are happy to receive,  it cannot sell for less.

Then,  if you receive only one bid which often happens,  you'll have acheived the price you wanted.

If it doesn't sell and you added no other listing upgrades,  then there's nothing to pay.

As @tressygirl says, you can tell prospective buyers your reserve price if they ask you.

With regards to using reserves on lisings, to be honest I'd say that it's a bit pointless.  The reason I say this is because eBay will still charge you for having used a reserve on the listing, even if the item doesn't even sell.  Therefore I would suggest that if you want a certain amount for the item then you either advertise the item as a Buy It Now listing so that potential buyers can see the price that you want for the item.  You can also include the Best Offer function if you are willing to accept offers, although eBay have recently put a lot of buyers off of using the Best Offer function by automatically opting sellers in to a requirement which asks buyers to disclose their payment details before the offer has even been sent.  You can, however, deactivate this option so that buyers aren't forced into disclosing their payment details before they can even submit their offer for consideration.

The other option would be to list the item as an Auction listing, with a Buy It Now option included as well.  That way if somebody sees the listing but doesn't want to have to wait for a week to see if they can submit the highest bid and win the auction they can just use the Buy It Now option to purchase the item outright if they are happy to pay the full amount.  However, if somebody were to place a bid in the auction then the Buy It Now option would vanish from the listing and you wouldn't be able to reinstate it.

Just a heads up, you have Royal Mail First Class as your postage method, they won't take a guitar this size (ParcelForce will though) - you need a shipping method that offers cover against loss or damage for your guitar's value. Have you checked this out?

Does it come with a hard case? If not, you will need a whole load of packaging to ensure that it arives safely with the buyer.

Yes, I've already come across the various problems with shipping guitars. One was a Tescos manager who refused to accept an Evri package who 'knew i' t was too big, without even measuring it! I went home and fetched a tape measure and showed him it was OK

I then told him that he was a 'Tin pot H×tler'!! I'm now baned from that store! 🤣 I took it to another Evri store and she barely looked at it! ☺️
