Anyone noticed eBay Profile picture/abbreviation of user name?

I've seen a few sellers now have an abbreviation of their user name in the small, circular profile photo, on the listing page.

It can look a bit odd... if your user name happens to be Godfrey1955, or Poolside247, you will just see 'God' or 'Poo' in the circle, although some have just the initial letter in a coloured circle, like those on the new Messages page...

If you haven't got a profile photo, has eBay automatically applied this 'tweak' on your behalf?

Hm... yes... computers don't have a sense of humour, do they?

(I used to teach motorcycle road safety and at the start would have to check out every pupils driving licence : your 'driver number' consists of numbers, and the first 5 letters of your surname.  My pupil , Terry Penistone gave me his licence with strict instructions not to laugh......)
