I knew it was too good to be true when EBay announced that it was going to be free to sell. They had to appear to be competitive with the likes of Vinted but obviously they had to recoup their lost private selling fees somewhere by adding them to somewhere else. Ie buyers who now pay a premium on top of private listers fees which is obviously putting buyers off! Us private sellers now feel like we have to reduce our prices to remain competitive! It’s not like us private selling are making fortunes - some of us are selling our stuff to pay bills and get by! It’s always the little people that get picked on as we’re an easy target. The new system is obviously designed to make EBay more money by all our payments sitting in THEIR bank accounts rather than ours and making them HUGE amounts of interest! EVERYONE SHOULD BE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS!!

If the delivery person doesn't scan the item on delivery then it falls in favour of the buyer they get their money back and get to keep the item . I get the feeling that even having the 14 day wait for payout still falls in favour of the buyer the seller still loses out . With this new fee it is leaving great opportunity for scammers now saying the item hasn't been delivered .Trying to get compensation from Royal mail isn't easy and they will only pay some compensation like just the postage cost if you don't have proof of what you paid for the item originally. which for things I have from clearing relatives houses I don't have receipts .So now I post all my items 24 or 48 tracked so no one can scam me because the extra 20 p I charge for the tracked postage covers me for up to £150 compensation .Standard postage with a tracking number doesn't guarantee it will be scanned on delivery .

theyve done precisely what Vinted do. Not sure if it’s the same percentage but Vinted orders included a buyer protection fee. Granted, they present it better.
