I recently purchased a treadmill from eBay, once dleivered it was not as described, they sent a different model, a worse model. I opened a case, the return was accepted but postage label/collection not sent to me, contacted seller to request this. The seller refused to pay for return even though proof was provided on several occasions and the owner admitted to using unclear terms to sale the product faster. I advised that I was happy to keep the item but for at least 40-60% partial refund to be offerd. They only agreed to £25 partial refund out of £380 treadmill. I felt this was robbery, so I declined. I tried to negitoate down, they still refused. so contacted Ebay, who said they can intervene at 8th day. I contacted them on the 8th day to be told they will message the seller advising full refund to be giving to me and for me not to return it and that I should receive refund within 48 hours and the case will be updated within 24 hours. This was great news , I checked after 24 hours for the case to be updated, nothing updated, so reconfirmed with ebay, they confirmed the above. waited a couple of more days, no payment received. Chased Ebay who were utterly useless and neglefctful, they lied contionusly about they need to contact the seller and wait 5 days, then it was 10 days, back to 5 days, I said this has all been done, that they can intervene today, case was opned on the 17th june. Kept having to repeat myself. I decided to escalate to senior and the chat representative said he will contact me to a available supervisor, I said OK but also want a call then he said call 24 hours. I said fine speak on chat. was reffered to a supervisor, who I chatted with, and said one thing then went back on her word, she then left the chat without warning, sasked to speak to her again, they then said they cant connect chats, obviously they can because they did previously. Spoke to 5 other representatifves, who done the same and left the chat without answering my questions/resolution. The last representative said have to wait 5 extra days for the seller to respond, to accept return or not to accept return by providing postage, I said no,,,but kept going around in circles, i said I am happy to keep the item for a partial refund, ebay said they dont issue out partial refunds nor full refunds on behalf of the seller. I said to read the private messages and chats with previous representaitves on all the chats, he did, I said an error on their part not mine, they dont offer compensation, I said how is that fair. I asked for the options for these 5 days, they said many possbilities. I said I wont be able to return the item now due to going back to work, so wont have time to arrange collection in case the seller accepts it etc. they wanted me to arrange a family member or friend to be availble to do this, the item is heavy for me to take to post office. I said no, not acceptable, and that I should not have to waste my time doing this, why cant a partial refund be offered by ebay? ebay refused to advise on the other possibilites, also the chats were not emailed to me as advised. the lower level model the seller was selling was sold at £200, I should get the difference but ebay refused this etc. What happens if the seller eventually accepts and I no longer can return the item? as I will have to waste more of time taking time of work etc. Can anyone help with this? as Ebay are lying through their teeth.
