Item didn't sell for enough so seller refunded me.

My purchase didn't sell for enough so seller refunded me.

I was advised to report the seller, refuse any request to cancel my order and to leave the seller appropriate feedback. I have done as advised but I am astonished to find the feedback I left has been removed.

Why is this?

This is the email I received from seller:- hi there, i issued u a refund because i'd like to sell this for £4 plus £3.50 postage as the bidding didnt go up high enough.

I shortened this and left negative feedback as follows: Refund issued as the bidding didn’t go up high enough.

unfortunately you mentioned 'refund' and unwisely cited a reason.

Always best to simply say - seller refused to honour the transaction.

Some sellers have no clue that this is a serious breach of the rules, and that they should therefore start their auctions at the minumum price they're happy to accept.

If it makes you feel any better, the seller will have paid a non-refundable selling fee to Ebay (Ebay quite naturally does not like sellers who upset buyers), and a non-refundable payment processing fee to PayPal.  That will hopefully teach him the error of his ways! And if he continues in this vein, his selling career will be shortlived.

In future, as already advised, do not mention refunds in feedback - just use the suggested wording or similar, so that the seller has no valid reason to request its removal.

Sending hugs.
