We have over 100 listings however sales are dead for over three months now.
Wondering if this is about time to take our business away to other platforms as we really cannot afford high Promoted Listings fees but still no sales.
NO SALES NO BUSINESS

I must be having beginner luck, September is my first full calendar month trading on here and i've somehow managed to make at least one sale on 22 of the days so far this month. Maybe its beginners luck or just depends on what items you sell and some don't feel the effect as much of a drop who knows but long may it continue.
That been said however, I was astounded as a new seller by the amount of fees and things that come out of a final sale not even including the subscription and if you decide to promote to get views and sales. The biggest thing i've noticed as a sort of outsider/newbie looking in is that non-business sellers on the forums are talking about all these perks and discounts yet those who pay and in essence would be sort of 'premium' customers on the business side to eBay don't get any. very odd, thats my view for what it's worth. Hope you all see an upturn soon.

Well done Emily on achieving a healthy number of eBay sales this September 2024 🙂
I think you should be in the Guinness World Records Book for achieving the impossible !
Sales on eBay have been the worst ever this September for lots of us on eBay...
My sales were so bad that I decided to give up selling on eBay as I lost faith and confidence in eBay. 😞

I've probably jinxed it now however and i'll be on here the end of October 😂

Nah, Not at all ! 😆
All the very best of luck to you - At least sales are now happening ! LOL 😁

Well done in first month!! 💪
Which parameters are involved?
- Essentials or Luxury items for sale?
- Auction or Buy it Now?
- What Margins or minimum Financial returns involved?
- it all makes a difference IMHO.
On 1 channel the minimum return I work on is 100% ie. If it cost me £10 originally, it must generate an Additional £10 after fees.
- for me anything less is not worth the effort.
- but I guess everyone's needs are different?

Thank you G

I have got used to the payment process now. When it first changed it was hard. Pay pal payments were instant but now I've adjusted it's fine
not to jinx things but it seems to run smoothly
unfortunately can't say the same for sales. This year I've had so many days without sales and what's even more worrying sales at weekends have almost dried up for me. The only benefit is my tax return will mean the tax I owe will be its lowest it's ever been. Sorry HMRC you won't be getting much from me this year

So i've started from nothing with no stock at all and I buy job lots from wholesalers (one a month) about 50 Items in each. I keep excel spreadsheet which shows the cost per item and I look too, in the first few months make about 50% profit on items once extortionate fees are taken. There is scope to charge more however with me having a low but good 100% feedback thus far I feel that the price helps people buy from me as i'm still technically an unproven seller and need to build up the trust.
I'm luck that I'm full time in the military so I can afford to sell items slightly less than I would like while I build up a bit of feedback as long as its more than I paid as I have a steady income.
I used auction and buy it now in the first couple weeks, my theory was auctions when they reach the end would drive views to my page however the sales were well below what i'd take for an item in an ideal scenario so now I use buy it now for 100% of items and include postage within price.
I'm lucky that I am on the eBay new sellers scheme. So I don't get anything free off them but I get a 1 hr skype call with someone in Dublin for 8 weeks and they teach me a little about various aspects of eBay as a newbie (title optimising, promotions, seller level) etc which has helped a lot. My early listings looked like a 5 year old jad done them 😂

Whilst I understand what your getting at here, it is a bit shortsighted in some ways.
It's not all about the profit you make on a single item and it never has been.
Great, I can sell one item, it cost me £10, and I made another £10 on it. But it took me 6 months to sell it.
It makes far more sense to buy 50 items at £10 each and sell them with £2 profit each in a month.
In the first scenario, I make £10 profit.
In the second, I make £100 profit.
As the first takes 6 months to make that profit, to compare them, you are making £1.67 per month with the first and £100 per month with the second.
Yes, it's a bit exagerated, but I think you will get my point.

You waffle as much as you want and don't let anyone else stop you from doing so!
You would be surprised at the mistakes that people doing similar for a long time will make. Common sense alone will get you just as far.

Totally cool!
Naturally, private sellers all ok, when it's not mainstay of 'earning a living'
Business sellers may be finding trade very challenging in the current climate.
IMHO September is traditionally difficult, particularly after 6 week school holidays/trips away, everyone back to work and being broke...

I'm lucky that I am totally aware this is all new to me and i'm willing to listen and learn. I started a thread several days asking for advice for a new seller and loads of good advice and critiques were given including by therenewalworkshopltd who has just commented.
I have looked at put into practice any advice i've been given by posters on here or by the eBay seller scheme lady I speak too and currently i'm on 10 straight days of sales which is my best to date.

Totally agree..!!
Turnover is vital for any business, naturally
Fortunately I am private seller, so consequently in Zero rush to sell anything so can happily wait for 100% to 500% margin for a Used item naturally
eg. A pair of shoes costing £20, then used and sold for £80 is a worthwhile exercise IMHO.

How much do you pay for promoted listings?
You shouldn't need that on eBay, you list an item, with a detailed title and description, upload clear photos and away you go,
If it's buy it now - people will sort by 'price low to high' so it ideally needs to appear in first 10 results of a buy it now search,
Avoid - Ai written listings, these are a complete joke, if a seller can't be bothered to write their own listing to describe their item - I can't be bothered to buy it, after all nobody can give an accurate description of an item that they've not spent 10 seconds inspecting with their own eyes, regardless of how many photos the listing has.
Reduce an item by the amount it would cost you to promote it rather than paying to have it promoted.

Well having a 100 listing is nothing in ebay,I have and ebay store of 2400 listing if I get one sale a week I'm lucky, this platform is so dead, and the company of ebay has no response to all the bad feedback they are getting, it seems the board of directors themselves are AI ROBOTS, most of ebay is ai now, and robots are not human.

I've had no sales since 11th Sepember 2024
People just add my stuff to the watch list and that's it 😞
Even when it's reduced - still no sales 😞

Your sale on the 3rd October fell through? 😞
