Any thoughts as why would suddenly ebay sales would do ZERO since start of February.
We have been closely monitoring our sales and since start of January 2025 sales are down. But they have now completely died as soon as February started.

Yes it's terrible. February is usually the quietest month but this year it's dire!
With all of the changes for the private sellers this is going to have a knock on affect as less people will be selling which means less buying.
Add on the fact that Ebay has updated the app and 1000's of users cannot even get on to the site to buy or sell then this may answer the question.

I can only offer my experience - I am buying less on ebay since ebay introduced the restrictions on private sellers simply because I, as a private seller, now sell less, I have less income, which means I can't then use ebay income to indulge my collecting hobbies. This isn't what I want but it seems to be something that business sellers and ebay want, but how short-sighted of them!
If only ebay and business sellers realised that the army of private sellers represent a good source of income for all concerned.
In the meantime I intend to only buy from private sellers until ebay relent and until business sellers wise-up and bury their annoyance at us because without us they'll just have to trade amongst themselves.

I've stopped listing and stopped buying. Would like to find out where this thing is heading first. Had a flurry of sales last weekend, but only coz I spooked my buyers with notice of major price hikes (which then didn't happen).
To be fair I'm spending way too long in the community, trying to spot where the next Ebay car crash is coming from. Just so I can avoid having to crawl from the wreckage. They can't mess anything up on a Sunday, can they?
Alas, we live in 'exciting times'.

February has always been our quietest month in 25 years of selling on eBay however this February it’s the worst in history selling on this platform. Thank god we sell on other platforms and we would be sunk by now

Absolutely dead...................i don't even keep the pc on all day anymore....sad really.

As someone mentioned above part of the update eBay rolled out last week blocked users from using the app. There's been a few threads here now with people asking for help.
But I'd wager that what we are seeing here is the tip of the iceberg with some of the phones being mentioned. I wouldn't be remotely surprised if they "accidentally" lost 6 figures worth of users last week, maybe more than that.
I stopped all my listings before the roll out started. I don't want to be Guinea Pig. Plenty of others can accommodate eBay with that. So I've just been watching my market and the auctions make for bad reading for the people that sell that way. Prices are tumbling and the Warhammer market is incredibly stable. It still seems to be elsewhere but here it's taken a nosedive.

Hi, I just searched for your Panasonic MC-UG302 Vacuum Cleaner BELTS using that bit of the description from your listing. You were 5th on the list. But if I search by cheapest you are first. Those are pretty good results. it would be worse if I couldn't have found your item on the first page.
Imagine how low sales would be if Ebay wasn't adding that it will "arrive by Valentines day" .....
09-02-2025 5:35 PM
Same here, absolutely quiet. I just don't know what is going on, send offers out and nothing back. Items are being seen and come up in results but considering it's near valentines I thought I may have sale or 2 but rich so far.
There have been so many glitches with the platform and didn't help ebay changing app and telling members after it had been done!
I see an ebay coupon whereby ebay giving 5% discount on purchases to buyers, so this clearly shows not many are buying on here after the changes made with private sellers, buyer fee etc
09-02-2025 5:49 PM
You'd need to be buying an item for £60 (plus £3.15 fees) or more to make good use of a 5% discount after BPF start.
For anything priced lower you'd have been better off buying it last week!

Hi, thanks for looking, yes Panasonic MC-UG302 Vacuum Cleaner BELTS is a popular belt, but it's dead, plus on 38 of my listings i'm the only person with any stock on planet Earth.
Such is life....

I've still not done anything to comply with the EU GPSR as I can't understand whether I need to or not but my sales have not been affected in any way. They seem to be the same as always since Brexit, when EU sales took a bit of a hit due to high Global Shipping Programme costs to the EU buyers.

This is coming from someone who generates many sales as a result of my you-tube
demos, and "how to" videos.
Unless you are doing so already , there are a number of videos with your capacitor ,
or similar products being demoed with 500,000+ views. No doubt many will have
links to their products in the description. Just a thought. Costs nothing but time.
All my you-tube links are to my website BTW

Absolutely. The insane Buyers Protection Fee, software cannot cope and the App is out of date. Also people have got little spare money, but ebay don't seem to realise that.

Unusually quiet for me February is usually a good month for me especially after the January payday hits. This month I’m 27% down on last month. I’ve had two sales this weekend but it’s also quiet on the other platforms that I sell on. I’ve given up trying to second guess the trends on here
10-02-2025 12:22 AM
I’ve been selling here since 2010 and used to make a reasonable monthly profit. But it gets smaller every year and unbelievably I’ve sold absolutely nothing this weekend, which has never happened in 15 years! I just can’t understand why it’s gone so downhill.
I think it must be something to do with the changes to private sellers fees. It seems too much of a coincidence otherwise.

The current cost of living crisis does not help when people have far less disposable income to spend on extras shall we say. But the changes to private seller fees by the introduction of what I call a stealth tax, BPF, has well certainly for the time being and probably is not reversible, killed sales. I had two auction items which sold very quickly on the 3rd Feb, but everything else had been as a dead as a doornail, since the New Year with the changes announcement. EBay cocked up when they stopped commission charges to private sellers because they couldn't recoup the loss. BPF has as much to do with "buyer protection" as ULEZ has with the environment ! A question no one answers is why do you need more supposed buyer protection anyway? You don't with MBG and if you send tracked/insured. But this started ages ago beginning with the PayPal business. And you know a lot of business sellers need to get off their high horse about this, the private seller was the backbone of eBay back in '95, now they are leaving by the droves. Its not worth selling anything under a tenner. Less to sell less to buy. The buyers are going elsewhere. I'm moving my vinyl to Discogs. Take a look at You Tube.
As I've said on my own thread "EBay Is Conning Us". I stand by that.

I've sold 3 low-priced items since Jan 2025, and less than £400 for the year as a small-time private seller. Selling is getting harder on eBay, many private sellers will close accounts since Feb updates. These private sellers are or were buyers as well, which will affect business sellers big-time as we advance. Many business sellers have abused private selling accounts to save them fees, even more since it was free to sell for private sellers late last year. This has spoilt it for many genuine small-time private sellers, happy to sell a few items a year, eBay must know who these people are with selling 100s of items with private accounts. eBay sales have been affected big time, some collectable categories have only 1 item sold on a Sunday 3 days after the private seller updates. EBay stock market price is going to plummet after these updates with eBay profits going into a nose dive. eBay was the place to sell on as they were always way ahead of other platforms, this private seller update is a massive step too far. Leave private sellers alone, go back to before-managed payments, PayPal, and get rid of item specifics. eBay should concentrate on catching those business sellers abusing private seller accounts, give part-time small sellers a limit of items or money limit made per month, and leave them alone to pay eBay what they need to pay with their fees. eBay will take off again with being the site to go to.

Friday and Saturday were dead for us but yesterday and today very busy. There is no consistency and I also put this down to the economy which lets face it is in a mess and just wait until April when companies lay off 1000s of staff! We ain't seen nothing yet!
10-02-2025 2:46 PM
Ebay have put many buyers off with a superfluous "buyer protection fee", then they put a lot of sellers off with possible 14 day holds on payments for no apparent reason. Then they put the cherry on top by messing the app up at the same time.
The plan to go out of business is going great (I'm assuming that's the plan)
