Editing an 'out-of-policy listing

I have had a new listing refused because of an 'out-of-policy' statement I included in the description. It would be a simple thing to edit but, because the listing has been 'ended', it won't let me change it. What am I doing wrong - I don't want to generate a totally new listing. I don't think it is fair that I have to do that for what was an honest and very simple mistake.

Editing an 'out-of-policy listing

I've found this happen regularly with policy violations - the listings are ended and appear in your unsold listings where you are unable to relist, sell similar or even delete them from the list, you just have to wait them to drop off eventually (after 90 days maybe?)

The only way I have found around it is that if you have listed the item more than once you may find it by doing a search on ebay for 'complete listings' then when you click on the listing do 'sell similar' or 'relist' removing the offending elements.

Editing an 'out-of-policy listing

The other bug I've found with this is that ebay will send you an email explaining the violation and saying 'Go to the listing page to select Revise Listing, or go to your Active Listings in Seller Hub to edit the listing ... These listings are still in your Active Listings folder in My eBay and Seller Hub so you can edit them to address the issue.'

But actually the auction is ended immediately and put in unsold items as above.

Editing an 'out-of-policy listing

Thank you for the response. I thought the ‘relist’ option would be the most
efficient way forward but, because the item has been ‘ended’, it will not
let me do it. The item is unique so there is no ‘sell similar’ option so I
have had to generate a brand new listing and delete the old one. I only
needed to delete one line from the Product Description but I have had to
start again. Really frustrating and enough to persuade me to kick eBay into
touch. Even more frustrating is that there is nobody to speak to who could
actually change the item status to let me do the easy fix. Typical of the
‘big corporation’ mentality of eBay who don’t really care about the ‘little
man’ i.e. their customers and the people who have made eBay the financial
success it is today. There’s lots of other ways of buying and selling
stuff!! Thanks again for the response and sorry for the rant! I feel better
now 😊
