I need to leave feedback for a few items, but when I fill out all the options and click the button, I get a "We ran into an error, please try again" message. This happens on every item, not just a specific one. Is there a problem with the system at the moment?

Hello Dave, it is July 2024 and having the same issue for at least 3-4 weeks. This is bad becasue I have loads of feedbacks outstanding and some customers get very annoyed when they have left feedback and the seller appears to not be reciprocating. I have wasted so much time trying. Also, why can't Ebay change it so that when feedback is received instead of just being permitted to responde, we can also be able to leave feedback too there and then? I tend not to leave feedback straight after a sale. I like to wait the 30 days in case an item is returned or any issue arises for whatever reason, so you can imagine I have hundreds outstanding!!

Hello Dave,
|I'm a desk top user (windows 11 home edition) and also can't leave FB. The 'Leave FB' box is greyed out and not available.

Dave,
We could do with some interraction from you!! This problem has been ongoing for ages. I have had to repeatedly try to leave feedback and eventually about 3 weeks ago was able. Now am having the same issue. It appears to be any feedback whether for buyers or sellers. It does not matter what the order number, buyer or seller name I CANNOT LEAVE ANY FEEDBACK. I have refreshed the page, cleared the cache and cookies. Everything appears normal until I press the submit button and then get the error message. I use Google Chrome (see pic) so tried the same on IE, but in that case the LEAVE FEEDBACK button is greyed out, as so many here have reported going back to 2022. I am unable to upload the 2nd photo as only one allowed. This is clearly an issue with Ebay and as so many issues with Ebay, is not resolved, despite repeatedly reporting by multiple users. Although I find it irritating having to leave feedbacks, it creates goodwill and encurages repeat buyers so this is issue is impacting our sales!!

I've been getting that since they brought out the new feedback screen.
It works from the purchases screen but you have to do those one at a time.
However, this seems to work: https://www.ebay.co.uk/fdbk/leave_feedback?filter=giver_role%3ABUYER
Change .co.uk to .com or whatever your local site is.

Thank you - I tried that link using my mobile phone and I was indeed able to leave feedback - however I was able to leave FB yesterday at one point, going about it the way I normally do.
I have reported this to Ebay and they said there is a ticket for that issue. I said, well you are taking an awful long time fixing it, as this has been ongoing for weeks, mostly off than on. I also pointed out how it is really bad for sellers not to be able to leave reciprocal feedback and some buyers would get really offended and could result in fewer repeat buyers.

#MeToo, right now, clearing cookies/cache, rebooting, changing browser, using different ways of leaving FB all have no effect, and as usual the agents online are as useful as chocolate teapots. I have several ticket numbers, but no reply and more importantly, no fix. dave@ebay seems not to be on this thread (I've sent a DM but immediately get an error message saying I've sent too many messages (I've sent none).
Shameful.

I'm on a desktop.
And ausfan's suggested https://www.ebay.co.uk/fdbk/leave_feedback?filter=giver_role%3ABUYER simply takes me to the usual multiple fdbk webpage.
DMs now don't allow links to be sent - even to ebay webpages.
No wonder Pierre O doesn't wish his name to be associated with the parody that ebay has become, with clueless, out-of-control incompetent programmers, and a manicure-obsessed CEO who was a laughingstock at Booz Allen.
Shameful.

So, so funny!
Having given ebay a piece of my mind, someone got to work on their Bug # 42,319, and I am now able to leave feedback and don't see their idiotic red banner. 😃
So here's my SUGGESTED SOLUTION:
If you suffer from this or any other ebay-induced problem, come to this thread and abuse ebay and its boss - how he got his B.E./B.Eng. I cannot imagine - and then wait a few hours.
BINGO, the problem vanishes!
Perhaps these worthless jerks and creeps are sadists too, and deliberately introduce the problems in the first place? Wouldn't surprise me all that much.........

You may be right.
Oh, ebay noticed all right. I found this piece of soggy used paper in my Inbox prior to the problem being solved.
I'm forwarding Bozo's impudent comms to Pierre's PA, who's been very helpful in the past.
How sad they destroyed what was a truly fine company and community..... clueless.....

And the BUG is STILL there! "We ran into a problem. Please try again later."
In the latest occurrence I am the seller and cannot leave +ve FB for the buyer.
He's a twelve yr ebay veteran but with few transactions and who probably doesn't believe me that ebay is blocking me leaving him positive F B.
I have tried:
- clearing cookies / cache / resetting browser / rebooting computer
- three different browsers
- on both Win PC and Android mobile
- different ebay sites, e.g. ebay.co.uk, ebay.com, etc.
- choosing a different route - from the /fdbk/leave_feedback page, or directly from the auction page
- checking the ebayer for whom I'm attempting to leave +FB is still a registered user (he is)
- varying the character length of the feedback
- giving up and then coming back a few days later
. . . (and a few other things too)
are all FRUITLESS and lead to the same red banner with the "(!) We ran into a problem. Please try again later."
I've today re-complained, ref. 1-489014771855 "escalated to technical" just like the half-dozen times I've gone through this before this year.
The rather tired-sounding and perhaps other than sober ebay operative on the phone said he'd never heard of the problem, and then, nor had ebay feedback team or technical team. Evidently they don't know about Google or read the ebay community forum or keep track of complaints escalated to them - "WE KNOW NOTHING!" straight out of a sitcom.
The operative even tried - mildly - blaming me for coming through to the wrong department. He seemed unaware that the online automated chatbot assistant simply does not present one with any option for reporting ebay bugs, leaving feedback issues, etc., so to get anywhere at all one has to just stick with SELLING issues and keep typing "HUMAN AGENT!" until it presents you with a "have us call you" option.
is dot gd

Yes, totally frustrating trying to get through to an Ebay agent and even when you do it is pot luck and often a waste of time trying to get them to understand your problem. I agree with everything you have said and the fact Ebay do not seem to share issues that members report, so the agents are not updated, making them unfit for your purpose.
Eventually the problem you are having was resolved for me. I am sure the servers can not always cope with the sheer volume of users and information, so we get these constant bugs.
A few years ago, I was having some listings duplicated, which caused problems as I had no idea and had to keep explaining to buyers why I was cancelling the sale - another time, many of my multi-variation listing photos just disappeared and there was no help from Ebay who did not acknowledge such a problem and I was left spending countless hours going through all those listings that might be affected and retaking literally hundreds of photos. After several months, I spoke to an agent who acknowledged there was such a bug. Oh then another bug involving multi-variations again, where certain items that were sold out, were showing as having 1 item in stock. instead of zero. And then when my Ebay account got hacked and I suddenly had 2000 auction listings appear, all priced in dollars (I never even sell by auctions). Yeah, Ebay took their time resolving that one and in the meantime I was getting hundreds of messages calling me a scammer. The agent I was connected to had also never come across this issue too and I was even questioned whether these were in fact listings I had put up!! Err, in dollars?? They even rudely put the phone down on me as were satisfied they had resolved the issue and 2 hours later those listings were still showing and I had to go through all the nonsense again on a Saturday night, until I had an agent who removed all the scam listings. It took from 6pm to midnight to get help. My weekend ruined.
It's utterly exhausting and frustrating having these bugs, especially when the people who are supposed to help are ignorant of the issue.
The good news for you is, it should resolve for you at some point. Yes, there are some buyers out there who will are paranoid and will think you are a liar. I have one currently. Her signed for package has gone astray with no update on the Royal Mail tracking website. She told me she is leaving me negative feedback and I mentioned that I have a lot of positive feedbacks and it was not my fault her parcel had gone missing in transit (yes I know I have responsibility to compensate her). She said.... 'yes, well it means nothing because anyone can just get fake positive feedbacks' 🙄.

No wonder why so many buyers don't always leave feedback on eBay... not because they don't want to...
It's BECAUSE THEY CAN'T. ...because eBay's bug says NO !

You sound very knowledgeable and may have at least some solution!
I cannot figure out the feedback issue. I had tried everything including shortening and lengthening the comment and nothing worked but eventually it seemed to be fixed and makes no difference how many characters I use.
It could well be a coincidence in your case. It happened that way for me too - suddenly after weeks of frustration and buyers asking me to please reciprocate FB, it was fixed.
