I have been inundated with ebay emails which promoted the BALANCESAVE5 discount offer.
From the offer Ts & Cs, if you pay an order with minimum of £10 then you can use BALANCESAVE5 as a voucher code to obtain the 5% discount.
So, I won an auction on Sunday 16 March and then went through the Pay Now process using £10 of my balance, entered the voucher code which correctly recalculated the discounted order total. Pressed PAY NOW button and got an error message page :
"We ran into a problem. Please try again."
I did - multiple times, using different balance amounts and different payment methods - same result.
On Monday 17 March I contacted ebay CS - explaining the issue, they could see that I had been trying to pay for the order. I even tried to pay when on the phone ebay CS - no success.
The ebay CS agent said they they would raise a ticket with the tech team and I would receive a call-back within 24 hours.
SILENCE
I tried again to pay today (Wednesday 19 March) without success so I called ebay CS again and asked why is it still not possible to pay with the BALANCESAVE5 code. The response was that the IT team had not responded to the ticket. I told the CS agent that time was running out (payment deadline, missed payment = lost item etc) and requested a call back from a supervisor within 1 hour. Either that or I go ahead and pay without the voucher code and claim £2.65 discount back from ebay.
SILENCE
Finally, I paid the full order amount and order was confirmed.
Anybody else experiencing the same problem (and can offer a solution ??)
PS : It appears there is no method to make a complaint against ebay so no way to try and get the £2.65 back !!
