eBay charging for listing upgrades (2nd category) on auto relists. Is this correct?

I've been charged the 35p upgrade fee for listing in a 2nd category even though the listing was relisted automatically.   This doesn't seem correct as according to the Fees for Private Sellers page, "If you choose to manually relist your item, optional listing upgrade fees apply again. We don't charge these fees again for your listings that are set to automatically renew or relist".  Have I misunderstood this?  Are other people getting charged on auto relists?

Without seeing the listing in question it's difficult to give a definitive answer.

Is it an auction style listing that you have set to auto relist?

2nd category is an optional upgrade charged at35p it’s in the fees for private sellers. Only the first category is free.

And that auction was set to auto relist?

If so, I'm puzzled too. That bit you've quoted from the private seller fee page is relatively new, auto relists used to be free but any upgrade was charged for again, but now I can see that upgrades should also be free on auto relists.

Yes, it auto relisted earlier today and the charge has appeared on my account.

2nd category is an upgrade so wont be classed as part of the free fees.

After a 30-min chat with eBay support, they finally acknowledged that there is a problem, and so have escalated this.  At the moment they're not sure if the problem is that the 2nd category fee is being charged on auto relists, or whether the problem is that the text on the 'Fees for Private Sellers' page is incorrect.  I suspect it could be the later as at one stage during the chat they stated that it was only the reserve and subtitle upgrade fees that weren't charged for auto relists.  However, that's obviously not what it states on the Fees page.
