Yep you guessed it....simple delivery

Which bright spark thought it would be a good idea to jump from 2kg to 15kg on "simple" delivery?

£3.71 straight to £7.19

It's the difference between my 3kg item selling or not selling if I ask the buyer to pay.

A £3.48 loss I have to absorb if I pay.

I know for now it can be opted out, but when it's mandatory this ruins so many listings.

Shame there's no actual competition to ebay, would use it in a heartbeat! (FB Marketplace isn't it!!)

There have been lots of people reporting this issue.

There is supposed to be a price for 2-10kg  (£5.36) so presumably there is a glitch at present.

I haven't seen this table before, is that one you've compiled or is it on ebay somewhere?

I read elsewhere that with simple delivery ebay are not showing the carrier used to the buyer, just express / standard. On that basis I was going to opt out of Evri as many buyers would be unhappy about that, but

am I understanding correctly that if you do opt out then the Royal Mail price goes up?

Seems very odd and the Royal Mail prices look higher than  purchased through click and drop! I wonder if the parcel rate covers medium parcel as well as small parcel or if it means there's some leeway with the size.

That is correct for a simple delivery ebay listing they just show 'standard' or 'express' no courier name.  Yes, if you deselect one courier ebay raise the prices for the remaining courier, here is the full postage info, from ebay:

Thanks for that, did you see any justification anywhere for why the prices rise without both selected?

Not showing the courier name seems sub-optimal to say the least! I fairly regularly get buyers asking to confirm I'm not using a particular courier

It's on the Seller Centre help page in the FAQ section titled 'How to post > What carriers are available on Simple Delivery?'.

Buyers do only get to choose from Standard or Express and the price does indeed increase for some reason if you exclude one of the carriers.  The prices for parcels cover small and medium parcels.

I don't know why ebay raise the price if one carrier is deselected but I would assume it is to benefit them in some way.

Yes, the buyer may have a shock if they do not like a certain courier, when I bought something from a seller with simple delivery, I selected 'standard' delivery and didn't find out who the courier was until they uploaded the tracking number.

Available carriers and delivery options

You'll automatically be opted in to use all carriers that are available in this programme. If you would prefer not to send your items with a particular carrier, go to the Simple Delivery settings in your Postage preferences and adjust the toggle next to the carrier.

It's important to remember that excluding carriers may make your items available to less buyers and the delivery costs may increase. Also, if you need to have your items collected, you'll need to update your settings to exclude Evri.

In certain cases, if your preferred carrier can't accept your item, we'll provide you with a label for a carrier you've opted out of in your settings. For example, if your parcel exceeds your preferred carrier's size or weight limits, we may send your item with an alternative carrier. For more information about carrier options and postage rates, see our Simple Delivery Seller Centre page.

When your buyer pays for the item at checkout, they may be able to choose either a standard or express delivery option. If they choose express, your handling time will still be the same – this is the speed the item moves through the carrier network.

This seems really bad. Where I am Yodel and Evri tend to leave parcels outside without even ringing the doorbell so I tend to avoid unless I can use click and collect. Not knowing would put me off buying, particularly for expensive items and bizarre that if I asked the seller which carrier would be used they wouldn't be able to tell me!

You do get the feeling that the people in charge of policy and implementation for recent changes on ebay must not use ebay much themselves to sell or to buy

They've added Royal Mail 2kg medium & small parcel prices together and divided by 2 to get the 2kg price if you deselect Evri and then for good measure upped the Royal Mail 0-1kg price by 35p.   So they believe for every one medium parcel posted 2.5 small parcels are posted (roughly).  I find this jaw-dropping.

In this day and age why can't they just put a tick box for small or medium parcel if posting Royal Mail and keep the prices the same as on Royal Mails website?
