What's happened to postage options?

Went to list something just now and the post service options have completely changed since yesterday. I usually list with free post (I then select yodel as that's my nearest/best priced drop off centre), but there's no option to offer free post. I'm forced to list with *whatever* ebay has chosen, which might be a service miles away from me making post a nightmare. Why why why mess about with this when it was working fine.... (I have my own ideas of why it was changed, you can guess my thoughts...)

Re: What's happened to postage options?

Not only that, I have small & light items that absolutely definitely used to be £1.55 or £1.80 via RM.... now forces £2.94 as the cheapest option. They're just robbing us now

Yes, I preferred to walk into the post office, get item weighed and be offered first of second class delivery and pay over the counter.

I hate having to guess the weight in case you get it wrong.

Re: What's happened to postage options?

I have scales ready so I know the size & weight of everything I sell. For example, phone covers which are 108g but very slim so always £1.80 postage as well under the RM 2.5cm limit for a large letter but over 100g so £1.80 instead of £1.55. Simple delivery forces £2.94 which is more than the entire cost including post previously. That money just goes into the pocket of eBay.

Re: What's happened to postage options?

I’ve just listed something today with only Royal Mail selected for postal options with the specified weight and size, and when I checked it after it’s added two types of postage options, same delivery timeframe. But standard and express.

Anyone any idea what the dearer express option is?

Also how do you make sure the option to have sent to a shop collection point is off, I had done it once but I bet they’ve put it back on since these changes?

Re: What's happened to postage options?

Though I’ve had trouble with this recently as the counter stage charge what they want. Like, I know the size of the parcel and how much it costs for specific size, weight and postage format to what they try to tell me what size it is and that my parcel won’t fit in small class but has to be a medium  class. I tell them they are way over estimating and that I’ll post inline, which they say it’s cheaper online. No it’s not, they’re just trying to charge me incorrectly.

The Express delivery option is Royal Mail Tracked 24.

With Simple Delivery the Click & Collect option is delivery to an Evri parcel shop.  It is different to the normal Click & Collect and you can only remove it by opting out of Evri.

Online prices are cheaper than over the counter.

Re: What's happened to postage options?

But I’ve had Royal Mail things sent to a parcel shop myself, it ends up
being tracked as Collect+

Re: What's happened to postage options?

When I work out the price online and then go to the counter, when they
charge correctly for the dive and method it’s always been the same price.
How much are you paying differently by?
I would query that.
In regards to my issue with being overcharged, I was sending something that
would cost £3.40 and they tried charging me £6.50.
