Simple Delivery Scenario from 7th April

The scenario below makes the following assumptions:

  • A private seller's listing has been converted to Simple Delivery (SD) & they have not amended the AI generated postage information including the weight or size of the item.
  • When the item sells the buyer purchases the label from ebay and chooses Royal Mail (RM).

  1. The item sells and ebay emails the RM postage label to the private seller.
  2. The private seller sees that the AI generated postage label has the wrong weight or size or both for the item they need to send.
  3. The private seller contacts ebay to know how to proceed and Customer Service (CS) tells them the Post Office (PO) must take it, ebay have an agreement with RM/PO that any 'Marketplace' stamped postage labels with insufficient postage must be accepted.
  4. The private seller attaches the postage label to the package and takes it to the PO.
  5. The 11,000+ post offices in the U.K. have not all yet been informed by ebay to accept packages with wrong postage labels on them or they have but refuse to co-operate.
  6. The PO refuse to accept the package after a heated exchange between the PO staff member and the private seller, the private seller leaves the PO, package unsent.
  7. The private seller decides to purchase their own correct postage label.
  8. The item price and postage label price were separate on the listing so the item price did not include the cost of postage.  The private seller therefore has to use the proceeds they made from the sale of the item to purchase the new/correct postage label.
  9. This leaves the private seller out of pocket with any refund (if possible) for the wrong AI generated postage label refunded to the buyer.

Any comments on this scenario welcome, including any corrections.

Simple Delivery Scenario from 7th April

I also have a private account. I bypassed SD when someone bought a a parcel sized item from me. EBay put the item down as a letter and light weight it was a set of in ear phones  by the band Motörhead (I don’t wear in ear ones). So went straight to Royal Mail to buy a label and added the tracking details in.

Simple Delivery Scenario from 7th April

Sister sold a food processor on Thursday. According to eBay it was 2KG so printed the stupid SD off. I took it in to post office and he weighed it and said it’s actually 4kg.

so eBay is way off in weights

plus I don’t like the words market seller on the packages either
