Simple Delivery - A Positive View

Hi All,

Just a change to the norm, here is a positive view of Simple Delivery from myself

1. Ebay do all the hard work, in guesstimating the package size and weight.  If wrong they stand to lose out not us the sellers

2. Ebay have done the leg work to get a 20% discount on postage costs.  What used to cost £2.70 with RM now costs £2.74

3. Ebay have arranged specific carriers which lead the field in their industry.  Evri leads the field in having the worst record for package delivery

But seriously, one good thing ebay have done is made me realise that selling here is not a continuing option for me, as of the 15th I will be a buyer only

Of course there are 'Positives' with Simple Delivery. Ebay would never had introduced it - let alone made it mandatory if it was all 'Negatives'.

But for all those who are complaining (especially myself) are 100% against Ebay powers-that-be making Simple Delivery a Mandatory postal system from April 15th onwards - as follows -

______________________________________________________

Starting from 15 April, Simple Delivery will be the only delivery method available for private sellers when listing most items. There’ll be a few exceptions, such as low-priced, bulky items, and local pick-up, which aren’t eligible for Simple Delivery.
______________________________________________________

I have Always posted items to buyers using the Royal Mail by sending parcels by my local Post Office, where professionally trained staff do all the work for me. They have the scales - which can weigh parcels 'Exactly', so no need to estimate. They also measure the parcels 'Exactly'. They enter every detail into their computers, and have everything needed to make sending the parcel possible. So, why should Ebay after almost 30 years in business - suddenly need to Axe it ?? - and force every Private Seller into using Simple Delivery. Obviously Private sellers more than any type of sellers are more likely to use the Post Office/Royal Mail than any business seller would. That is just a logical deduction on my part, but makes perfect sense. So this mandatory switch for all Private Sellers to a system which Most Private Sellers have never even heard of, let alone even used - is just not acceptable.

Today I removed all my Ebay listings, and that was heartbreaking really, as I have been a loyal Ebay member since 2003. So, the only path for me (as I currently see things) is to just buy on Ebay, and move all my selling to alternative selling platforms who do offer Royal Mail/Post Office Counter service - which so I believe is every single selling site in the world. I really couldn't give a d*mn about these so-called positives of Simple Delivery, as believe-you-me, nothing seems simpler than wrapping up a parcel and handing it over for the Post Office staff to sort. It's been in existence since the year 1660 and it's functionality is just as important today

I'm in the same boat here. Just listed a few pieces to get rid of by the 15th before i close the chapter on Ebay. More than 10 years with over 1500 positive sales and zero negs or neuts yet we are being treated as scum!

I know 😣 and I never thought I'd ever see this day arrive.

I would have accepted a Compromise by Ebay - if let's say that they allowed for only Royal Mail 1st/2nd (signed for) Recorded Delivery service and Royal Mail (fully trackable) Special Delivery service and International Tracked / + / International Tracked & Signed For from the Post Office Counter service - but Refused  to allow for Standard 1st/2nd Class standard delivery post.

Most of what I sell, is valued between £100 to £700 - so I always use the most secure forms of postage at the Post Office. Royal Mail Special Delivery has upped their maximum insurance coverage from £500 to £2,500 - which is perfect for me, as at least if any of my items got Lost, Stolen or Damaged, then I have a good chance of recouping the money. I mainly sell Vinyl Records, and I have noticed that Evri company states that on their 'Exclusion' list - it states - Memorabilia, photographs, signed items and records. Well, forget that.

The negatives far outweigh the positives.
