I have my selling preferences set tightly and my activity log over the last 48 hours shows a buyer has made 72 attempts to place a bid all of which have been rejected because of too many non payment strikes.
Just what message do these people get? Additionally when I clicked on his profile on my (selling preferences) log it came up in red that this buyer was no longer a registered user. How then is he able to make these futile bids?

Thanks for the tag @tressygirl
Hi @dancewithadingo ,
Thanks for reaching out. This is indeed quite an amount of bid attempts, one of the highest I have seen. It would be unusual for a person to do this amount given that they would have got the message of too many unpaid item cases. That said some users do ignore blocks, try and circumvent them or think that by making loads of attempts it will take away the block. It’s likely here that a 3rd party system was used to try and place them given the huge number of attempts. As they are now unregistered the account was reviewed for this behaviour.
Thank you,
Kat

That's a good question, @dancewithadingo , and I ' ain't ' got the answer, but I know a man / lady who may! 🤗
Do bidders receive an informative message why their bids are not registering? Why then do they carry on bidding, others have recently reported some bidding up to 40 + times ?
An unregistered user bidding? So does that mean they can still access their eBay account? Seemingly yes.
Thanks! 😊

I believe the message is something like "The seller isn't accepting bids or offers from you." not very informative really,as the reason could be one or more of many.
As well as unpaid it could be delivery address/po box previous deals etc
As to the unregistered member this was probably applied after the bids were attempted.

I cannot believe someone can make 72 futile bids after the original rejection - how stupid can they be?? Could it be some automatic response/some "bot"?

Good Morning TG
Thank you as always. As regards the no longer a registered user perhaps he only became unregistered after his last bid, although I do recall seeing a semicolon where his trading name should be many bids ago.
Thanks for the other details.

Good Morning Steph.
Thank you.

Yep that unregistered therefore makes sense. I sometimes also think when multiple bids are placed and rejected, there could be a language barrier.
My mulitple blocked bids do mainly come from overseas bidders, who may simply not understand the message received, and do not know why their bid is not being placed, and bless, will try again and again..... and again!

HI TG
Not as many times as my worrying dim witted bidder.

God loves a trier @dancewithadingo perhaps after the 50th attempt , they thought it might work? 🤔

Hi TG
I am pleased to say that it didn't, furthermore I cancelled the listing.

PS I have used the info that you kindly supplied to contact the second best brain in eBay. As it was a very tricky question perhaps I should have offered a prize to the person coming up with the right answer.

I believe the motto is something like "To keep on doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is a sign of insanity".

Can someone point me to the page where you can see activity like this
where a buyer has failed attempts to buy for whatever reason.
Cheers

Good Morning Mess
I use the old system on eBay but if you are the same then go to your Summary page where you will find Activity,Message and Account. Click on account then under the heading Selling click on selling preferences.
Have a look for the column headed up Your buyers, manage who can buy from you, click on edit which will show buyer rules manage block settings and rules activity.
Apologies it is so convoluted hopefully someone will make it easier by sending you a link. It's worth looking at.
Good luck

Yes, that is the page for setting rules, which I use and know about.
But wanted to see how many failed attempts were made to buy and the reason as per post No1
" my activity log over the last 48 hours shows a buyer has made 72 attempts to place a bid all of which have been rejected because of too many non payment strikes"
Used to be able to see the reasons for failed purchase such and strikes, country etc.
But either moved it, removed it or more likely its right in front of me and can`t see for looking.

Good Morning Mess
When you finally get to that page, which clearly you are familiar with, then there are at least in my settings, a number of columns giving the full details ie when the bid was placed, the name of the bidder, the ref no for the item and the reason that the bid(s) have been rejected etc. I don't think that you are looking in the right place.

I'm also struggling to find this. I'm looking at https://www.ebay.co.uk/sh/allselling/listings? but not finding Activity Message or Account.
Might give me useful info to explain why sales are down?

Good Afternoon John
Now that I am home I can reply in greater detail. John I suspect that you are on the eBay Hub while I am not. Consequently my advice and way of finding your way to this elusive log may not apply as I am on the original version of My eBay and as previously stated you are on the more modern one.
Hope that that makes sense and because of the variations between our settings I can't direct you to the log.

On the Seller Hub @johnwash1 your Buyer Activity log can be found here:

I think @messier44000 were you looking for the link above too?

Without TG we would all be up the creek. That lady deserves a well earned pat on the back and a mince pie.
