I'm having problems with the new Simple Delivery. I thought I selected a up to 750g label by default as I put on a Nintendo Switch game, but it gave me 100g label - maybe it selects 100g large letter by default. With this you also can't change it after a bid has started or it has bought. You have to cancel the order, then get them to repurchase it.
Has anyone else had this issue, or it is just me?
Many thanks,
Michael

I wish eBay would relent & let those that want to continue choosing their own postage methods carry on switching back to custom postage.
Newcomers to eBay will probably just accept Simple Delivery without question, and many existing users won't want the bother of 'switching back' for every listing, so surely they could let the rest of us that don't want to be 'Simpletons', keep the custom postage option?
The more eBay is trying to take over every aspect of selling, the more complicated it has become, especially for small sellers just wanting to quickly sell a few bits & bobs.

I see now on a communication from eBay, that as of 15 April, the use of "Simple delivery" will now be compulsory.
I tried using it on a couple of occasions, which resulted in disaster for both listings... And so I thought ..." Never again!"
There were problems with tracking, item loss, and trying to get refunded after the event. "Simple delivery" resulted in hours and hours of frustration, stress and an overarching feeling of " why am I even bothering?"

Same thing happened to me- choose up 1kg option which is same price as lower weight options
when the item sold prepaid label said up to 100g large letter and of course Royal Mail refused to accept
spoke to Customer services who really do not have a clue and told me to go back to the Post office and insist they accept it
Rrally no not need this hassle- simple deliver my a—-

One of the main issues I see with simple delivery is that the compensation for lost or damaged items isn't no where near the same as Royal Mail. Therefore, when send an item worth £75, Evri only compensate you for £25.
I know you have to prove what you paid for the item, and packaged it correctly with Royal Mail. If something has cost me more than £25 then Evri's compensation just doesn't cut it.

Evri give you the choice of either getting the standard ( I believe up to £20) cover or paying a little extra and getting cover for the whole amount of value of the item. I've always done this and haven't found the extra premium at all excessive, considering the peace of mind it gives you. And on the few occasions things have gone wrong, they were true to their word and paid in full for item and postage.

Oh, Ok I have only sent about 2 items with Evri, only due to the stories I've been told. Thank you for clarification!

Yes, its horrible.
They're trying to do a 'Vinted'.
Just leave it be!
It has become 'Postage' now - not P&P so any costs of packaging etc are now taken in to the item cost.
They are also adding the 'protection' cost on to the buyers - so the price you set for an item isn't the same as what the buyer sees.
Its carnage. Horrible for independent now and again sellers.

it just isn't simple.
it is shocking.
I hadn't thought of combined orders either.

I wonder what genius thought this one up!

good idea.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to price an item, Taking in to account the (hidden) ebay protection fee, and what postages costs are/ could be.
Hopefully with more complaints, they will offer it as an option and not this foolish mandatory thing

So either you have to have a storage unit to store all these pre-packaged items, or wrap and box then weigh, then unbox, mark the box with the item, flatten box again, and finally re-wrap the bubble wrap onto the roll.
Nice!

Has Ebay changed it name to BigBrother auctions? Forcing private the sellers to buy labels from Ebay - can they really do that? It seems they can and its all to put more money into their coffers. That along with hanging on to our payouts until 2 days after delivery is just one more money grabbing scheme, Does Ebay really think we buy into these new procedures and agree with Ebay that they are wonderful and so much better for us! What a load of tosh.
Has anyobne tried their new combined shipping procedure. It took me ages to find it and when tried to create an invoice the message said it wasn't working. It was uggested the buyer pays the full price and the seller refubds the overpayment! I was happy to do that but Ebay should not launch new prodedures
I have some items on Ebay on another site which end on 13th April - just before their deadline to change to simple labels. I will not be listing anything else in April and if more private sellers did that then Ebay would see a huge drop in their revenue!

You can actually change the weight and size at the point of listing. They give you the default option for the item but you can adjust it. You need to click on see all sizes below the chosen weight.

Sounds like a glitch. Never happened to me when I've changed options. Check if your eBay app perhaps needs updating?

Exactly my thoughts ..no account for packing materials you may buy..strong tape & paper.. bubble wrap etc and time ! Even before this i wished i could have posted things at there supposed rate

My last sale was on Friday. I’m as certain as I can be that it only happened due to my making big show of reducing the price by the amount of the BPF and calculating it down to a nice round number.
I also offered ‘free’ RM Special Delivery to sweeten the deal. As it was a £350 piece of textile art I felt this was only right. With SD and both options ticked I could have been told I was sending it by evri standard. No way would that be happening.
I’m not listing until SD is made optional again.

This isn’t a surprise.

I am aware of the options- problem is even if you choose say the up to 1 kg postage option the postage label defaults to up to 100g large letter- post office then refuses to accept package

I’ve been selling for 5 years and from the beginning the order page (where I’m urged to ‘get label’🙄) has shown the recommended label as ‘buyer selected: large letter’ - even though I’ve never sent anything under about 1kg.
I always wondered about that ‘buyer selected’ thing. Was this whole debacle in the pipeline 5 years ago?

I have had the same thing happened to me, also since the simple delivery system was introduced I have had no end of problems! Usually I choose the VRI because we have a shop nearby. We do not have a post office in this town. Unfortunately it seems that the purchasers are able to pick their own type of delivery and cost which is very unhelpful to me.
i'm getting in all sorts of pickles with this wretched simple delivery lark! I have now changed all of my Active orders to collection only and I'm using Facebook marketplace instead. I will look for other auction sites because this one is just awful. It's such a shame because I have a really good rating with eBay.
