Feedback

Hello,

I know this is not an issue with eBay service, but maybe worth to mention.

Do you find it a bit annoying with buyers not leaving any feedback?

I dont mind when it is a little thing for couple of quid.

But I've had so many situations when  eg. I sell an item for couple hundred quid, roughly 25% below market price, make sturdy well secured package, dispatch it via Special Delivery (cost on my side)... and never hear from buyer again..

I always leave my feedback first as a seller (straight after payment received).

I wish you all a nice weekend.

Re: Feedback

I won't leave feedback on ebay in the future. Sellers don't appear to be bothering anymore, so I think that since the recent changes it's no longer a reliable check on the seller. I'll do more shopping on Amazon in future.

Re: Feedback

Yeah I got bored about worrying about it when it's left less than 30% of the time, so I just set up automated feedback so that if a buyer leaves me feedback they get one automatically back without me having to type one out all the time.

I sell through a different channel as well and after a set time of no problem being raised it automatically adds it to your account as a positive experience if the customer doesn't leave anything , I like that system a LOT

Re: Feedback

I don't sell on Ebay but it really annoys me when sellers don't leave feedback even though I've left them positive feedback.

Why aren't Ebay chasing these people up.

Re: Feedback

Does a buyer primarily buy an item because they want the item or do they buy an item primarily for the feedback?

In any event, what is the point of buyers being left any kind of feedback?

It can only be positive - which rather defeats the whole point of informative feedback?

And how many people leave feedback for the shops they buy goods in or any another online site - mail order clothes, for example - when they ask for feedback or is it just an “eBay thing”?

The feedback system was OK at the beginning until it was abused - it’s now long out-of-date and serves no purpose for buyers to receive it.

Chase "these people up" for what.

Do you understand the meaning of Voluntary?

Re: Feedback

Hi, as a buyer on eBay and not a seller I have left feedback only not to receive any in return,so know I never leave back unless I get it first. When I pay for the goods my part of deal is done so is it to much to asked for feedback as soon as I've paid.

What would you do with the feedback?

After you "pay for the goods" you could become the buyer from hell!

Are you buying an item or feedback?

Why do you think simply paying for the item (something that is a mandatory requirement) warrants feedback?

Well you have left 30 feedback and received 34 so you have a little catching up to do

Re: Feedback

I know you weren't replying to me, but I feel the same as him. Although I don't expect feedback immediately, It would be nice to get it eventually.

"What would you do with the feedback?"

Well, it will help when I want to sell things. I know when I'm buying, I look for sellers with a lot of good feedback. If you're a seller, would you be happy if buyers didn't give you any feedback? Do you think it would help your sales?

"Do you understand the meaning of Voluntary?"

Yes, but also I think people have the right to ask why they aren't getting it. After all, ebay was set up as a trading platform for collectors to buy and sell between each other, not as a platform for businesses to flood with their products.

"After you "pay for the goods" you could become the buyer from hell!"

So that's a reason to not give people feedback? Does that mean you NEVER give any buyer feedback?

As I have posted previously.

You bid. You win. You pay (hopefully) and I send.

You receive (with luck or eventually) and you leave feedback to show everything is satisfactory.

I leave feedback in reply to yours and finish the transaction.

So, who should leave feedback first when the whole obsession is entirely voluntary? With so many (deliberate or increased) abuses of the MBG, is it any wonder sellers do not leave feedback first, or at all?

Re: Feedback

The way I look at it is that a seller should leave feedback once they get paid, and a buyer should leave it once they receive the item. So for me it would be the seller that leaves it first. I do when I sell anything. I understand there are scammers out there, but not leaving feedback won't prevent you from being scammed, so that can't be the reason.

I look at a seller's feedback as a seller... not as a buyer.

I would not care at all if buyers left me no feedback... I prefer the cash. I receive on average 25/30/% & it has no effect on sales.

Yes, but also I think people have the right to ask why they aren't getting it. After all, ebay was set up as a trading platform for collectors to buy and sell between each other, not as a platform for businesses to flood with their products.

People do have the right to ask. Like most things eBay has changed in the last 29 years & I don't see what that has to do with feedback.

Where did I say either of those things. If I "mean" something I would say it. I leave feedback for every transaction when a buyer pays.

The transaction is not complete until the buyer receives their item and are happy with it.

The initial intention of feedback on eBay was to reflect the whole transaction from both buyers’ and sellers’ viewpoint. However, just as with everything else, it was abused by a minority.

In my view, it is now outdated and feedback for buyers has become an irrelevancy because they can only receive a positive comment irrespective of how they conduct themselves.

Re: Feedback

I wasn't aware of that. I can understand 'help_no_brakes' attitude towards feedback now. Why on earth would eBay do that. It does indeed make feedback from sellers pointless. I won't feel so bad when I don't get it now.

Re: Feedback

Been around ebay for decades and the same arguments are raked over and over again and again

to all those who suggest feedback should be compulsory !

negatives might also come your way!

its not a given feedback will be positive

Re: Feedback

I can understand people (particualrly sellers) wanting feedback when their accounts are fairly new. It's like a credit score - once you have built it up enough, it can be a real asset.

However, once you're a bit more established, it really doesn't matter much. While the feedback system is there, it's good to gather up more and more positives as a seller, but the main reason then becomes to dilute the occasional inevitable negative, so your feedback score isn't badly affected.

For a buyer, it makes no difference at all. I have mine set to automatically give a positive feedabck to any buyer who leaves one for me, and that's as much as I do. (I also tend to block buyers who demand feedback before they have left any - these can often become problem buyers.)

From a buyer's point of view, I can understand why it isn't left more often. It's too much of a faff now, with too many options and questions - it can be unclear whether you are giving feedback for the seller or for the product.

Re: Feedback

Hi,

Can anyone please let me know how I go about leaving positive feedback to my buyer?

I've gone through eBay's steps but ended up confused!
Thanks
