I recently sold two items on eBay, I opted to use the simple postage system. Unfortunately my printer failed me so I decided to go to my local post office instead, as on my listings I promised the prospective buyers a next day delivery. Now armed with the new tracking information, I went back to my listings to update the tracking for the buyers. I can not believe that I could not update the listing!!!! So, I contacted the individual buyers, and informed them of the situation, and they were very please etc.... My priority was to the buyers, that they get what was promised. And now I have learnt that I can not get the funds into my account because of the old existing tracking information, which is part of eBay's postage automation system linked to releasing the funds. The old tracking info will not follow through. I've tried to contact eBay, but to no avail as I can not talk to a real person. The Items have been delivered to the buyers and positive feedback made.

You cannot opt to ' choose' to use Simple Delivery or not, Simple Delivery is mandatory for Private sellers.
Some items are excluded, very lightweight, excess heavy items etc , but if you select to opt out of an item which is included for SD then, recently eBay have removed the option to add new tracking, they wish you to use SD when the postage for this shows.
eBay recommend sending your buyer the new tracking details, and you can enter the tracking should a case later, be opened for item not received.
Your payout will now, be held for a minimum of 14 days.
Read about Simple Delivery from the link below, it does have many benefits e.g. eBay refund the buyer if an item is lost or damaged in the post.

Just a heads up for future reference - you don't need a printer to get your label, there's also a QR code you can download and show the Post Office and they can print off the Simple Delivery label for you.
It'll then show as dispatched.
You may want to chase a refund for your unused labels: If you don't use the Simple Delivery label provided, you or your buyer will be refunded, depending on who paid for postage.
To process your refund, we'll verify the following:
If your request meets all these conditions, you'll receive a refund for the shipping cost.
