Someone found the dates yesterday and posted them. Just thought it made sense to make it easier to find.
It's in the Help Section under Opt out
Simple Delivery will be the only listing option as of 15th April and they will start adjusting current listings from the 7th April.
So at least we know where the Iceberg is now.

It is definitely not viable to send quality or high value items on Ebay using Evri/RM
previously I used UPS because they don not lose things. they charge a tiny bit more but are miles better
what happens when my items get damaged or lost?....they are NOT going to pay out on every shipment
Buyer protection is bad enough because sellers have to absorb costs, now Ebay want us to pay for Free packing too
01-04-2025 12:33 PM
it is a massively negative concept to bring in
01-04-2025 12:34 PM
Well I just found out if u need collection only like me cos I'm disabled you have to opt out of evri and then arrange royal mail collection yourself after ebay give u label... how is that simple!!! Was better me paying at royal mailand booking collection at same time!! Also ebay boast 20% savings its way more than royal mail charge!!
01-04-2025 12:35 PM
new terms say ...no badmouthing Ebay
so I'm suprised board not closed already
01-04-2025 12:37 PM
it is not easy to move to be a business seller....there are penalties for not selling enough for a start!!!!!
01-04-2025 12:40 PM
I have a business account it's this one I'm chatting on but I started it had Terrible experience left then recently tried again as scammer put me off but the fees mean if I sell identical items on private and business I get roughly half the profit from business account it's just not viable

Coding (and design) isn't the problem. I could do that for you (worked freelance for 40 years and started on computers the size of a house, made of radio valves).
Look at ebid. Excellent site, functions well, modest fees, been around for 20+ years. But it lacks the massive promotion that a rival site needs. You can only sell well on such a site if you have a large inventory and can build your reputation, for example with postcards, stamps, or craft items/supplies. On ebay-as-was, people just came here and bought your items, because everyone and his dog has heard of ebay.
That's what you'd be up against. But with enough investment, it can be done, clearly. Vinted is doing well, but as far as I can see, they're equally controlling about postage, I don't think I can get the RM collect-from-home that I need. And it looks like ebay has simply copied V's ideas.

Exactly, finally someone with sense!!!!
in Ebayland.......packing costs are all free
in Ebayland.......Evri never damages anything
in Ebayland.......you never need a safe service like Special Delivery

Blue Lamp,
"what happens when my items get damaged or lost?....they are NOT going to pay out on every shipment"
I just reread the SD page and, as I understand it, they will sort the refunds on every damaged /missing parcel. So just like you could prove before that sellers had dropped the parcel off and claim the insurance on the goods from the carrier (if you wanted to) buyers now pay for the delivery of their choosing and they claim from Ebay. Sellers involvement stops with receipt of parcel at delivery cente and they buyers sort it out.
I mean a lot of my understanding is based on how Vted do it and you can't be too sure what Ebay intend from the poor, lacking in detail and definition communications so far, but thats my take.

But the fees are extremely high compare same value item in private or business account you get half the profit from it selling in business account

Are you forgetting the bit about exemptions? Where they tell us to look at the courier lists
They always leave themselves wriggle room!
01-04-2025 1:21 PM
ONLY if your able to print your own label

You can book a home collection with Royal Mail for Vinted parcels according to them
if true
I imagine you’d do it via their website using the tracking number in the shipping email from vinted
V only give a qr code for RM orders so you Dave to ask for bring a label service

@toffeecat wrote:If ebay provide the tracked postage label surely they should sort out issues, or what is the 75p buyer protection for (I know, I know, the 75p is for doing nothing, zero). GSP items get sorted by Ebay if they go astray or damaged
Where "Simple Delivery" labels are concerned once the seller has obtained an acceptance scan they are not held responsible if the item is subsequently lost or damaged in transit. If an item is lost or damaged in transit eBay is responsible for refunding the buyer and the seller is protected against any defects being recorded against their account.
As mentioned, this comes with caveats. One being the seller is told they must comply with the carrier's terms which would clearly include not sending anything the carrier specifically prohibits. For example, used batteries and new lithium batteries (including power banks) sent in isolation are prohibited by Royal Mail. Evri - like most couriers - has a more extensive list of prohibited items than Royal Mail. What isn't clear to me is what would happen if a seller sent something via Evri that is included in Evri's (rather comprehensive) "excluded from compensation" list. Those items are not prohibited from carriage but aren't covered by any compensation should Evri lose or damage them in transit. As I see it the seller would have complied with the carrier's terms so any loss would be entirely eBay's to bear. Whether eBay would see it that way is another matter.

I was told yesterday that I could either:
Print my own label and RM could pick up (i dont have a printer)
or
i could take the item to a drop off location and show the QR code (I am housebound and can't do this)
There was no option for lableless collection (as there is at the moment thru royal mail collection)

No, not at all. That is not SD if it is exempt, you can pick your own courier if you are exempt. I'm just talking about SD and how that works as the poster suggested that refunds for non delivery /damage would not happen. I believe they will be instigated by the buyer.

On the subject of alternatives to ebay - does anyone reading this thread sell on Etsy?
If yes, how does it compare with ebay for seller fees and freedom to post as you choose?
After ebay's new payments system, the bogus buyer protection free, and now the new 'Complex Delivery'
I am looking to sell on another platform.

We were never allowed to bad mouth Ebay on the boards nor mention other selling sites/competitors without being put on the naughty step...either temporarily or even permanently🙄
01-04-2025 1:41 PM
I’m thinking the reason eBay’s pricing for SD is higher than can be obtained online might be to cover the insurance aspect off. i.e. use the excess charged to self-insure cases where the carrier refuses to pay?
Same as sellers not paying for a tracked service and using the accumulated saving of £1.20 or whatever per item to pay out on the odd one that doesn’t arrive?
If this isn’t the case and eBay start enforcing carriage compliance then about 50% of the items currently being offered for sale on eBay will disappear over night.
Both Evri and RM exclude virtually everything when you read the small print.

Wow so I just changed one to test it states 3.74 postage says buyer will pay rates from 3.74 yet after I clicked on listing to view it said postage was 3.12 standard! So Ebay literally gonna be making alot of extra money from us!
