Hi, so I sold a brand new electric blanket and she messaged me saying she hadn't received it. I checked tracking and it was in her shed with a photo so I thought, well that's the end of that one. Only for her to message me 29 days after delivery, to say she finds the switch stiff to turn on. That's all she's said. I've checked her feedback left for others and there's a shocking amount of negative feedback that she has left to other sellers saying she never received the item, the items damaged or not described etc. Do I have a leg to stand on if she decides to open a dispute to get refunded? Thanks

After 30 days she can't do anything.
I suggest you keep on communicating with her in order to run down the clock.

She'd have to return it first but she only has 30 days from date of delivery to start a return.
If she makes any sort of veiled threat you can report her to ebay using the link on here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/rules-policies-buyers/buying-practices-policy?id=4374
That will help if she leave neg f/b and you want to apply to get it removed. Scroll down to the very bottom to Request Feedback Removal on here:

OK thanks for this, I will try to keep her talking for another day

This is helpful, thank you 🙂

She has 30 days to start a return but 60 days to leave feedback.

Fully expecting negative feedback, looking at her previous sent feedback
😞

A buyer who leaves lots of negs is not a good look and hopefully that will support your case if you have to apply to get one removed. Don't forget to put her ID on your blocked bidder list:

Another con artist i had one opened a case against me on the 29th day, let him have it and blocked him, horrible man. You can reply to feedback left to you telling the truth. My few negs have been removed by Ebay when i proved they were spite

If you do get left a neg feedback and you can't get it removed, a good way to deal with it is by leaving a 'reply'.
As long as it's the right sort of reply!
A reply that is calm, factual, polite, impersonal and truthful can often 'de-fuse' a neg that's obviously been written by somebody who's a bit of a, er..... twit?

I will do this thanks

Yes I found it strange that it's the 29th day she's chosen to message me. Will have to see if she opens a case today. She said she never received the item until I showed her the tracking as delivered and a photo. I believed her and thought she just hadn't seen it but now after seeing the numerous negative feedback she's left saying "didn't receive the item". I think she was trying it on with me until she realised I had proof and is now trying this way.

Thanks, I will do this if I can't get it removed. What a palava 🤦

In my experience adding someone to blocking a bidder list stops them communicating through eBay so don't do that until you've stopped communicating if you're trying to keep the conversation going.

@asleepingdragon I believe it only blocks communication if they have not been in a recent transaction with you.

Her first message said "the control switch is stiff and hard to turn on". I replied saying, so it's working, just stiff to turn on? She has just replied saying " yes it's very stiff, I can't even turn it on now". I'll try space out my responses through the day, in the hope we can get past the 30 day mark. Struggling to even know what to respond to her though. Any tips on how I can reply? wouldn't mind if she had messaged me back when she 1st received it but to wait 29 days. Really not keen on having a used blanket sent back to me so fingers crossed we can make it to tomorrow without her opening a case.

Well possibly but whenever I've had communication with sellers who bombard me with reasons why they're perfectly entitled to take my money and not send whatever I've paid for until two weeks on Wednesday next month, putting them on my blocked bidders list has coincided with them not hassling me any more. It could be just a coincidence obviously, but it's happened every time I've had the misfortune to run into these less than stellar sellers. Just wouldn't want OP to risk putting their buyers back up.

@asleepingdragon it's actually an extra option you have to select on here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/bmgt/buyerrequirements
"Don't allow blocked buyers to contact me". So it doesn't happen automatically when you block someone. 🙂
@kennylonglegs Best of luck.

Good Morning Kenny
Tell her that oddly enough you are about to visit (or contact) the shop where you bought it from later today and if she could let you have the serial and model number you will ask them if there have been any other reports of this problem with the switch. Could she therefore bear with you until you have spoken to them and you will report back.

There's one suggestion above me. I'd personally wait a few hours, still a perfectly reasonable timeframe and then reply in a way that doesn't make sense.
Like you misunderstood something they said or autocorrect took over without you realising.
If time is what you need, that will give it to you.
As they will be confused too.
