I bought an iPhone and gave the seller cash on collection after he told me his online bank account wasn't working at the moment. But then I realised it was fake after getting back home. It sounds stupid of me but he even showed me the photo of a receipt, which matched the serial number of the box he showed me. Please give me suggestions on how I might be able to get my money back.
When I try to report the user on the eBay online form it doesn't work for some reason. Is there anything I can do?

There isn't a way to get your money back, and you couldn't have conducted this transaction via eBay because you need to win or buy the item, pay for it via eBay, and then exchange contact details and make arrangements to collect your item.
You would have had buyer protection if you hadn't done an 'off eBay' deal.

Thank you very much for your help. I first bought the item via ebay and then he refunded me, but eBay didn't notify me that my purchase was cancelled. (Yes, it said 'refunded', but not that my order was cancelled). I didn't think what I did with him was outside of eBay.
Therefore I thought I was still entitled to the item that I had purchased, and now the item should be paid for by cash. I didn't know that you weren't allowed to use cash to buy items. I should have checked but after contacting the seller on the eBay messaging system, and according to his product description, I thought I had to pay by cash. The page for his item is https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/167242372852 . It's still up and I think this is a disgrace. Is there anything that can be done given that we contacted about this issue using eBay and I did original make the purchase on eBay?
