New Buyer Protection Fee - just seems to make more money for eBay

I've just read eBay's announcement of the new Buyer Protection Fee, and as a regular eBay buyer (and occasional seller) this is very disappointing. This seems to be just a transaction fee to make money for eBay. As a buyer, I will pay the fee without gaining any real benefits (I have hardly ever had problems with purchases that couldn't be resolved using the existing options).  And the plan to only pay sellers once the item has been delivered conveniently leaves the funds in eBay's control for longer - generating more profits. If eBay is going through hard times, then I am not too opposed to them increasing transaction fees, but announcing it as "good news" like this is just offensive. Maybe it is time to use other online marketplaces.

Yeah, I think it's rubbish too.  Absolute gaslighting by eBay.

Why should private sellers have to wait for payment for starters.  Glad I don't sell on here any more.

Did someone at eBay suddenly realise the revenue drop from getting rid of fees and decide to claw it back?

New Buyer Protection Fee - just seems to make more money for eBay

I've been with ebay for almost 25 years, and the increased levels of incompetence and immorality is becoming a serious issue. Not only is this latest money grabbing manipulation, a blatant replacement for the recent "free to sell on ebay", it screams "f88k you all, we want more money off you". It's the accepted face of todays society, this site used to be about selling some second hand items to make a little extra money. Now its about stealing as much money from people that need this outlet to make some. So called moderators here, will reply with the usual nobody's forcing you or if your not happy go sell at a boot sale! Really encouraging retorts like that stink of collusion rather than an independent assessment. My personally, i think  ebays turned into a bunch of immoral thieves.
