As a buyer I made my first ebay purchase where the listing used Simple Delivery.
I was able to choose from 'Standard Tracked' or 'Express Tracked' but the courier was hidden from me.
I only knew what courier the seller would use when they uploaded the tracking number so no more being able to skip a particular seller/listing where there is a courier we want to avoid.

Evri's express is about that much more than the standard. Was it Evri?
But their standard timescale is 3-5 days not 2-3 days. And a 1kg parcel would only be 3.16. Was it heavier than 1kg?
Do you know what the seller's dispatch time was? I am just wondering if the express delivery 1-2 days takes account of that. That would be just the delivery time for express with Evri.
It is going to be a problem if the timescales shown to the buyer are only the courier timescales and don't include the dispatch time.

The seller's dispatch time was set to 2 working days. The courier turned out to be Evri for Standard Tracked. I do not know what the weight is.

These are the new prices for Simple Delivery, £3.71 comes in the 1-2kg range:

Thanks.
Then at first glance a buyer will see express delivery as 1-2 days which does not take account of the seller's 2 day dispatch time. They may not notice the slightly longer time for the actual delivery dates.

That's right, the couriers delivery timescale is higher up and in the first screenshot I shared at the top of this thread, although cut off, the sellers dispatch timescale is lower down, below the countries that they do not send to.
It's similar to how eBay have tried to hide the BPF from the buyer on the checkout page by placing it low down on the left.

If EVRi have got it... then God Help You !
Worst courier in history. Their drivers don't ring door bells, dump parcels on door steps where anyone can pinch them... or throw them over gates and last of all put them in wheelie bins which are out for bin collection day !!!

Thankfully the evri delivery person who works in my area is excellent and it arrived safe and sound.
I am aware though that people in other parts do not have such a positive experience.

So pleased to hear it ! 🙂
In my area which is Liverpool, they keep on swapping the courier drivers and some of them just couldn't give a monkey's what they do with the parcels as long as they can say it's been delivered ! 😞

Yes I am lucky too, we have a great local Evri service - nowhere to drop off though, but if I want to speed up their collection I can take it to them about a mile away!! They have have gone above and beyond - they started out decades ago as the local milk delivery service!!

the prices for 1-2kg are higher than Royal Mail online - actually so are all the higher weights. the 0-1kg is cheaper than royal mail... £2.70 large letter is covered up to £150. Bit of a swizz for buyers really. Plus the 75p etc...
19-02-2025 8:25 PM
Do you mean the Royal Mail price for Tracked 48 is £3.39 and ebay's prices above are £3.71?
This is not good for buyers and is also bothering me as a private seller as I have already reduced my prices a bit because of the BPF and if ebay charge the buyer more for postage that will increase my price again.

that's exactly it.
Someone shared this list a while back and I was somewhat surprised. Are ebay making money on postage?
Not happy as a buyer
I will resist Simple Delivery as a selller and I have a chat conversation saved where I was assured several times that Simple Delivery was something I would be able to opt out of. In my postcade you can't offer Express - I can often send a royal mail parcel first class the next day if a buyer wants.
The nearest Evri drop off is about 8 miles, I use evri collection for lightweight items larger than small parcel.
Not sure how Simple Delivery works for combined postage

"Are ebay making money on postage?"
That is what I suspect, so they could pay Royal Mail £3.39 and keep the extra they are charging.
I think I read somewhere that SD may not be mandatory for certain postcodes where the seller can't send things. I've also seen a post showing SD prices for combined purchases but someone said they weren't very good for additional items, so probably ebay making money again.

ebay doesn't seem to encourage multiple sales and combined postage, the stress being free postage, which is not free...

When I tried to list an item this morning I got Simple Delivery options
Up to 1kg £2.94
Up to 2kg £3.71
Up to 15kg £7.19
I am not getting the up to 10kg band available as an option
Can anybody tell me if I am doing something doing something wrong or is it an EBay glitch
Up to now I have been using Evri bought from Ebays Packlink service 2kg-5kg £5.64 so expected this would be replaced by the Simple Delivery band costing the buyer £5.36
My parcel weighs 2.5kg

Thanks for posting this. I stopped all buying and selling in January because I could see the mess that eBay are making and I don't want to be a part of their chaos. I came to this forum to follow what is going on to see of things really would be as bad as I suspected they would be. They are far worse than anticipated and it's awful on every level. I'm not supporting a platform that is doing so many horrible things to people all to line their own pockets. We all know companies need to make profits, but there comes a point where it goes into exploitation. There is no way on earth I will ever buy anything on this platform if I can't guarantee that it won't come by Evri. So, I'm glad to see this. It makes me realise that my intuition was right. It's all just going from bad to worse.
Today I wanted to delete my profile for this forum, because I think the forum is just as toxic as the main platform. But, it seems you can't delete it. Why doesn't that surprise me. This is a joke of a platform. It feels like it's run by one person in their bedroom.

Worse still, the seller advertises Royal Mail and then after you have purchased,..the seller changes his courier to Evri , Yodel or worse. There is nothing you can do about it. Ebay allows this and the seller knows this. If you try to leave Neutral or Negative about this practice or anything else about Delivery,.. Ebay will delete the comment. The seller is only responsible for dispatching the item within the specified time. The seller then gives the package to your monkey's uncle to deliver.

That's absolutely disgusting. eBay has become like a can of toxic worms. Nothing is strightforward and everything is manipulated from the algorithms deciding who can or can't make a sale (shouldn't sales be organic? - Not in eBay's world), who can or can't have their listings visible (shouldn't visibility be a given? - Not in eBay's world), a simple search which actually shows you what you searched for (not in eBay's world),.... You can't rely on anything. It's become ludicrous.
