Ebay getting worse for buyers

Don't know about you but my experience of eBay has gone down massively this decade, they literally have gone against buyers giving us no protection against thieving courier companies even after proof provided and now they won't let you cancel orders even when seller hasn't dispatched!!! Not good enough ebay at all!

but the percentage on feedback is misleading.  You can have only one negative and it can send your % right down if not many others have left positive.  It all depends on what the feedback is in regard to.  If someone complains because the delivery was a couple of days late or the colour was a slightly different shade etc then i would ignore it.  What i actually like to see in regard to a seller is actually their response to any negative feedback - that can be much more revealing.  I have just had a problem as a buyer and although i have some sympathy for her position i was not happy with her responses to my complaint.  Resolved now but took far longer than it should have.

If a seller fails to deliver then open a "non receipt" case and escalate as needed for a full refund

If a seller delivers late open a "not as described case".  The seller will send a label to return and refund.

If not escalate when they fail to send the label!

Ebay getting worse for buyers

When I buy I want to find a specific item at the best price.

Multi listings make this very difficult as most of them start at 99p for a "sample"

This means I have to go through every listing inputting size etc and waiting for correct price.

I feel its no longer worth the hassle and better to pay more through Amazon or a more reputable platform.

The standards for sellers has slipped and there ate too many sloppy sellers just trying to make a quick buck with zero respect for customer satisfaction.

Its become nothing more than a car boot sale with too much risk and hassle for buyers.

Resolution process is long winded, restrictive and labourious waiting times for seller to respond or for eBay to step in.

Cancelling a purchase within 30 minutes of buying should be instantaneous but instead you have to wait three days by which time its probably too late.

Returns becoming the onus of the buyer when the seller made a mistake is really unacceptable too

Its not "rightly so" that buyers should not be able to cancel a purchase.

Its a basic fundamental right under consumer rights to cancel a purchase within 14 days

In trade the principal is that " THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT"

Why?

Because otherwise the seller will eventually lose sales if customers are not satisfied.

Like it or loathe it, that is a fundamental principle of the free Market.

Selling is not just a case of exchanging a product for cash, its also about customer experience, consumer confidence in the seller and customer satisfaction.

Any seller who doesn't understand that should not be in the business of selling.

You will just get all your money back Whatley ever as eBay are 100% buyer based , you may lose out a bit of time but sellers lose out loads if anything happens with sales, eg I want to return this item worth a £1 , you will only have to pay all my money back and lost out on 2 - £2.70 postage costs eg £5.40, eBay don’t care about sellers at all, buyers I can not see how you have problems as it so easy as a buyer, only kind buyers could lose out maybe, but I can not see eBay not giving a buyer there money back unless you have 100% proof the buyer is a scammer or lying which is impossible, even if the buyer slips up and says he is lying in some sort of way ebay would still probably go on the buyers side, like I got some to say something which made the thing that was wrong with the sale impossible but somehow buyers in the right still, it’s a joke somtimes

Ebay getting worse for buyers

As I've stated in an earlier thread, there's been a sharp decline in honest selling practices on eBay.

Within the last 12 months, I've had to return more items than I actually kept. Why? because sellers have been dishonest with the condition or description of the items listed. So much that my account has been flagged for 'suspicious activity'. As a result, I've been restricting my purchases to basic items (resulting in eBay getting less money from me) but even that hasn't been foolproof.

Case in point is my most recent purchase. A set of three red pens. What could go wrong, eh? Well, the seller sent me fluorescent red pens instead, which is a very different shade and not what I ordered (the seller still has red in stock). So, once again, I have to request yet another return, which eBay's woefully flawed AI system will flag.

Whenever I speak with a CS rep, they're very sympathetic to my situation, especially after going through my history and seeing why I've requested so many returns. But still, no-one at eBay is bothering to pull their finger out and admit that their AI system is *bleep*.

Why should any buyer constantly lose money due to dishonest or incompetent sellers?
