We have experienced issues with royalmail over the Christmas Period as lots of our parcels have simply gone missing.
The claim process is tyring and when made a claim we have now been asked to submit further evidence with below:
Proof of cost price must be a purchase invoice or receipt stating how much the item originally cost to acquire – as you’re a business seller we’ll only compensate for cost price and not sale price.
Now the main issue is when we sold an item over £20 RM is saying submit actual invoice of item purchase. The actual price of item for bulk would be slightly lower how does it work.
This is the first time we have used RM over Christmas period and its already a very difficult process to claim.
Please help.

You must provide a proof of purchase of the item(s) you make a claim for. That means a digital copy should be uploaded, meaning RM will only compensate how much you paid for it (no profit) - VAT if you are registered + what you paid for their service (also net value if VAT can be reclaimed). That results in you always being worse off. Interestingly if you post an item that you had for free otherwise are unable to support with payment receipt, you can only rely on postage cost being refunded.
Obviously you need to share your order details to match your claim request.

If a private seller has an item go missing they get the full amount the item sold for because they often don't have a receipt or invoice, they have to upload a screenshot of the sold page and also add the item number, I guess they check this.
They only have the cost price in place for business seller account holders, I'm not sure what the OP is but there is 2 claim web pages, one for business one for private.

I was very fortunate that only one parcel went missing Nov - to date. I use Evri via Packlink. No quibble. Full sale price refunded plus postage ( under £25).

You would need to upload that bulk invoice and they will give you the % cost for one item if that is how many were not delivered.
Eg invoice says you bought 100 widgets for a total of £120
So they will compensate you your actual loss which is £1.20 which is the price of one unit

OP is a business as they are being asked to upload the bulk invoice where they bought their stock. Private sellers do not buy stock. It would be a fraudulent claim to pretend to be a private seller to obtain money by deception.

This is correct, Royal Mail fully compensate Private sellers, but for business sellers they only get the item cost.
They make you send them the sale details of the eBay page, where it actually says whether you are a Private or Business seller
I had a £279 sale item go missing with RM on 3 October the stop before eBay's global shipping place in Lichfield, Special Delivery. They have been messing me about for over two months and now I am over £100 out of pocket on the sale, thanks to a thief at Royal Mail and them only paying my cost price, never mind the half a days work on it for the sale.
I am still waiting for my cheque.

Advise for retailers:
Stop using Royal Mail if you want your items to be properly delivered. And just to clarify my statement, I don't blame any of the hard working people of RM. The poor management and old working processes brought it in this situation of losing parcels so often. Amazon could teach them couple of lessons.
I lost two parcels (the initial and the re-shipment of it) in two weeks time.

That is because you are a PRIVATE seller
Business sellers are only compensated for their actual loss eg the stock price
eBay can see whether it says "Business" Or "Private" on the order page
