eBay needs to scrap shop fees.

eBay should scrap the shops fees, now that private sellers get everything free. I sell books records and CDs and other items. Because of eBay's 6p per item and 90 shop fee I list very little on eBay these days. I can sell on discogs for free and no listing fees on Amazon and other sites also have no listing fees. It's really not worthwhile paying to list on eBay. I have no problem with the final value fee and even an increase in that and no listing fees would be better. I think these fees will be driving away sellers.

I agree, ive got a few k items on the D site and it costs me nothing unless something sells. Fees are similar now but the key is free to list.

I do think there would need to be limits to which categories were unlimited and actually I dont have issue with the shop subscription fee but the item limit is the problem. Get rid of all limits in used media, games, books etc.

eBay needs to scrap shop fees.

I have the mid teir shop, i dont feel any benefit for the £92 a i pay a month, i'm almost 400 items over the 1500 shop allowance so paying extra 5p per item over the allowance.
What annoys me even more is american have 10000 item allowance for less money, why are we paying more for far less.
no other platform scrounges so many fees out of its sellers as ebay does, over the last year my favour for ebay has dropped and dropped, to the point i would rather sell an item anywhere else over ebay, i sold an item a few days ago for £50, and out of that i had to give £7.72 to ebay for the pleasure of it, if it sold on my other platform which is also a business account i would have gotten a flat £50, and also not having to pay the store fees there.
Ebay are so out of touch with the current climate of marketplaces, i cant wait for more platforms to raise up to over take.

You do have to bear in mind that the way the shops are setup in the USA, is different to how they are here.

So though they may appear to be better initially, they are not that different overall.
You will find that depending on the shop level, the FVF tends to be higher than we pay here.

I am curious, where can sell for free as a business?

If they all do that, then nobody will make any money as the platform won't survive!

If your talking about the likes of Vinted etc, then they do charge fees, just not directly to the seller, but to the buyer instead.  Which if you look at it sensibly, is exactly the same thing.

No matter what you are charged on a selling platform, you will pass on those fees to the customer.  That is the only way that makes money.  You never pay the fees yourself!

And to further add, using Vinted again.  Though you don't get charged those fees directly, look at the prices customers are paying for the items, they tend be less than on Ebay etc.  Why?  Because those fees are added on to the selling price!

I sell my items for the same price on eBay and Vinted and my sales are higher on Vinted

also the fees charged to buyers on Vinted are far less than eBay

Cost of running an eBay store /generally are far far higher than buyer fees on Vinted

I have just looked, you do sell items for less on Vinted than you do on Ebay.

Whether the postage is included on your selling price, or added separately, it is part of the overall price!

So you do sell cheaper on Vinted.

The point being, that overall prices tend to be less on Vinted than Ebay.  That's all I said, not specifics.

And it's quite obvious that you have been selling on there for quite some time before becoming a pro seller.....

Another one breaking the rules.

eBay needs to scrap shop fees.

And you need to not be so negative or condescending.

Your posting a lot more than I do these days.

And your post is exactly why.
