Hi
We have been selling on ebay for over 10 years. Sales have been down since start of 2024 but its completely dead. Like we look at our stats from July to September and sales figures are less that what we are paying ebay for Promoted listings etc.
Although we have moved our inventory to Amazon and tiktok but wondered what has actually happened to our Ebay. It used to be aweseome but we now cannot even afford to list. Listings are sat there doing nothing even with promoted listings.
November has been our difficult month so far as with Zero sales i mean come on there got to be something causing this loss. Is it new so called AI.
Please share your findings.🤔🤔

Ebay wont do anything to improve things, i think they have got to a point where they can't / won't go back on things to either make it cheaper or better for businesses.
They have turned a blind eye to private sellers (or should i say business sellers / sole traders) selling on private accounts. Just searched on princess cut diamond ring and one seller in similar field as me, they have 346 items listed, 14 sales this month and all on private account!
Buyers fee will just be the end for business sellers, buyers will expect lower prices to cover this extra cost, business sellers cannot drop anymore due to fees, shop price, item cost, covering free shipping and tax!
It should be free for all or small fee for all
Ebay can still send data over to hmrc and then hmrc need to deal with these sellers to get tax due.
Moving to other platforms next year as i cant see it getting better at all!

But Amazon is no good for unique used items.

I spoke to suppport today in dublin and was informed that there are changes coming in early next year but couldn't say what.....although between the lines it is buyers fee and other things
Even support said that the site designers are making impractical changes and making a mess of things to the site! says it all really.....

If you go over to Amazon I wish you the very best of luck.
However, if you think the business seller support on eBay is bad you may well find that it is much worse on Amazon, in fact you may find it is terrible on an Olympic scale

Never had any issues when I sold on Amazon, for me it was much cheaper than ebay. The only reason I stopped was because they wanted me to go through full verification for the 3rd time, just after I had come out of hospital having had a major op.

I used to use Amazon only for selling some of my unwanted books. It was ok, but it used to irritate me that I couldn't easily figure out how much I'd lose in fees (I don't mind too much if I sell a book for nowt, but I draw the line at getting less than pays for the postage). But, like you, they hounded me for all kinds of extra info, so I walked away. I doubt the loss impacted their business!

Business seller and also personal seller. Sold on Ebay for years. Site feels completely dead at the moment. Hardly any views on the stuff. Never known it to be so bad.

Some sales coming through now however what’s strange looked at the traffic metrics and it’s only this past week we are getting any external views. Months and months before that we had no external views so eBay has changed something somewhere and the search seems to be working more accurately. They’ve been tinkering with something

There definitely playing/changing things
Ive noticed the impressions chart is taking time to update and then a day later to fully update if this information is incorrect?
So Monday's impressions were zero all day on Monday
Then Mondays impressions when I checked Tuesday were 30k, which is about 70k down.
Then Mondays impressions today (Wednesday) were 90k thats an overnight increase two days later of 60K
My listings views were yesterday only 41 when I have been consistently three figures all year, guessing if I c heck tomorrow it will be 3 figures
No rhyme or reason with sales, grafting seems to be making little difference, when last spoke to CS they just told me to keep with it.

Dead for me too. Nothing is moving, very little traffic. I had to take a job to survive. I am flooded with inventory I can't move.

Hi to both of you in the States.
Do you think Trump will help your situation?
From what little i know isnt he going to increases taxes significantly on items from China (which also flood our UK site) so hopefully people will buy from the states?

eBay's CASSINI search engine is the main problem and their LAZY paranoid computers which fail to INDEX all of your listings... they will index 5 to 10 listings which will be getting views and the odd watcher and if you have anymore than 10 listings put up on eBay at the same time they will just remain on ZERO VIEWS indefinitely because the INDEXING PROCESS FAILED TO COMPLETE 😞
Before 2021/22, Indexing was done within 24 hours and sales on eBay were stronger... now eBay says indexing can take 24-48 hours before your listing is live and visible to everyone on eBay, but I have had listings being viewed, watched and sold within 2 hours of submitting my listing to eBay and I have also had listings that have remained on zero views for over 10 days when they are popular and sought after items priced low for a quick sale, so this tells me something is not quite right here 🙄 ... and that these items are only visible to myself but are GHOSTED in eBay searches because the indexing process had failed to fully complete.
My guess is if you list too many things too close together they are getting flagged by eBay bots as duplicate or spam listings when they are for DIFFERENT ITEMS ! 🤔
Earlier this year I experimented by listing items GRADUALLY in SMALL BATCHES OF 5 EVERY 4 HOURS and this helped to provide slightly MORE VIEWS ! and even a couple of SALES !! 🙂 So this could be why some people are finding a loss of visibility and sales ?... if they just bulk relist without SPACING THEM OUT a little as not to get flagged by eBay's intelligent listing monitoring software...

I think you may just be overthinking things 😞

I think I am 100% right !

I am only a small private seller and this makes sense to me, I have recently just sold after no sales , no views etc which is unheard of as I usually get interest by watchers or messages from potential buyers but nothing... and when I search I cannot find some items. Decided to end some listings, tweak others, then re-list as a new listing not an actual relist. I sold one item within a short space of time, then another today and have a couple of watchers, so something is happening on the site.
eBay are " tinkering" for whatever reason ?

Well done Violet - I am so happy that you managed to get a positive result by ending some items early and relisting them, or revising them... This has also worked for me in the past too ! 🙂
