EDD's shows same day delivery as dispatch day for 2 class post ! also wrong time zone shown

marco@ebay

Just looked up the EDD's for my weekend's sales I only just posted today, all show "ARRIVES TODAY" !!!

yet I only added tracking & dispatched them today around 1PM  using 2 class post (RM48) that takes 2-3 days to arrive, so why is ebay promising my customers that orders POSTED PM TODAY will ARRIVE TODAY !?

That is faster then light delivery, Royal Mail has't got Time Machine to deliver items.

Please have a look into this.

Also all my orders dispatched today, show wrong time of "tracking added" as early morning, anything between 1AM - 5AM ! why ? again all my items were posted & marked as dispatched at the same time around 1PM. & not during the night when I was asleep.  Why the huge time discrepancy ?

Anyone else ntoiced this ?

Now that I've hit a brick wall with the shipping team and taking on board liquid-bargains comments above, the eBay EDD appears to be  'encouraging' sellers to post sameday at least six days a week and offer a free next day delivery service similar to the requirements of Amazon Seller Fulfilled Prime - regardless of the seller's settings

Re: EDD's shows same day delivery as dispatch day for 2 class post ! also wrong time zone shown

It is getting worse. It shouldn't be like this but if I get an order at 4pm I think urgh I'll have to drop what I'm doing and send it now. I've started going to the Royal Mail Delivery Office the same day by 6pm or paying 1st Class instead of 2nd on some evening orders where I know I won't be able to achieve the EDD.

It isn't incentivising me to list new items i'm leaning a lot more towards auction houses to sell on my behalf without all the hassle.

Re: EDD's shows same day delivery as dispatch day for 2 class post ! also wrong time zone shown

We contacted eBay again today about this issue as we are in holiday mode with allow sales until Monday so we are expected to ship Monday, yet eBay have quoted 2 day courier deliveries to be delivered on the same  Monday.

We are in holiday mode to combat this problem.

We will ship tomorrow (Friday) and meet the estimate

The problem is, why should we have to go into holiday mode and allow sales to beat their joke EDD system?

When we are in holiday mode our sales drop to 50% of normal.

The only other way to beat the system is to set working days to despatch higher as eBay suggest.

Yet we get a Top rated seller discount on our fees if we ship within 1 working day.

So eBay have told us, change the working days to despatch, pay more fees, and then our system works.

Money grab?

This is the latest standard boiler plate reply we go that does not actually address the issue at all................

Hello XXXXX,

Thank you for contacting eBay Customer Service my name is XXXXXXXXXXX  and I spoke to you regarding your estimated delivery dates.

As discussed, I reached out to our IT team, and they have provided the following information:

As per the concern you have reported we found that the seller says estimated delivery date was showing incorrect.

Upon checking the issue this isn't a bug. Estimated delivery dates are just that estimated.  Right now, the seller can choose to extended delivery date or a handling date, and the system may take that into account. However, Sellers don't own nor control the actual estimates which display on the site themselves. We always consider the handling time which the seller indicated when we generate the estimated delivery dates, however, the history calculations may outweigh the display to the buyer.

Here are two examples of carrier estimated delivery dates enhanced with eBay's estimated delivery dates formula as above.

Carrier A - (2-3 days service)

Buyer A sees 2 days for shipping.

Buyer B sees 2 to 3 days for shipping.

Carrier B - (1-2 days service)

Buyer A sees 1 day

Buyer B sees 1-2 days

Buyer C sees 2-3 days

This means that for buyers, they have a realistic explanation of when their item arrives, and for sellers, shorter delivery time lines can help listings qualify for Fast & Free, (Sellers get more sales with Fast and free) and longer delivery time lines can help reduce buyers opening Item Not Received cases.

The estimated delivery date is not owned by the seller. It is based on a machine learned model that takes in to account seller performance history, carrier data, and buyer location. With any predictive estimate, some inaccuracy is inevitable. Currently our estimates are 91% accurate by design.

I have also provided a link with regards to estimated delivery dates for your information:

We appreciate the opportunity to resolve all of your concern.

Best Regards,

eBay Customer Service.

Typical eBay response

Denying the issue anfd then ending with "We appreciate the opportunity to resolve all of your concern."

Can more people ring eBay and complain and reference this thread as they are simply not listening

Under estimate and over deliver = happy shoppers

Do it the eBay way and watch unhappy shoppers move to other platforms

dave@ebay @ducatimondo

I just popped into the weekly chat to see the EDD question. The time zone difference was pointed out in this thread way back in January this year.
It would be greatly appreciated if this could be rectified for UK sellers, the amount of extra work and frustration this causes is ridiculous.

I appreciate this is an old thread now but I've just noticed this happening again today.

I posted an item and entered the tracking number at 12:41 PM but the time is showing as 5:41 AM (Please see the image below)
