Promotion fees

I still don't understand promotion fees saying 10%  to 100% of the sale price.

If I promote my item that I'm selling for £5000 and it's sold from the ad click to that buyer do I have to pay £500 to eBay?

Why would anyone choose 50% etc as that's surely a huge loss ?  Please help

Thanks

Yes, you would pay the percentage selected for that item of the total sale value when sold through a click on your ad.

There are different methods of enabling a Promotion with "General campaign strategy" and sellers can set their own preferred level/costs accordingly

I understand the different packages but what does it mean if i choose 1% instead of say 50%? apart from the fact that i will have to pay you £2500 for a product that im selling for £5000 which is just ridiculous so shocked if anyone would eve consider it but what why would anyone choose more than 1%?
