I've just sold an item that I've had listed for about 8 months now.
When I listed it I used my usual postage settings which is Royal Mail tracked and signed for.
I have just seen that Ebay now want me to use Evri who in my eyes are *bleep*, and I've had some bad experiences with.
Will it make much difference if I send it Royal Mail tracked and signed or will this cause problems with my getting paid for the item ??.
I'm a private seller just selling a few bits and I just wanted to make sure that the buyer gets his item promptly.
Many thanks for looking.

Hi @rocco1504 ,
Thank you for your post.
There is the option to update your postage preferences for the simple delivery postage to Royal Mail. This can be done through your account settings> selling> postage preferences>simple delivery and edit. Changing this now will apply for future sales.
If you do go ahead with the Evri label you do have protection from eBay if the item is lost or damaged from the point the item is scanned into the carrier's delivery network and until it's marked as delivered.
If you purchase your own label then to attach that tracking number you still need to generate the prepaid label and then go to the more actions drop down to add tracking. ( needs to be down through desktop)
Thank you,
Kat

Hi
Many thanks for your reply.
So whatever, I have to generate the Evri label and then change the tracking options on a desktop ??.
And as long as I change the delivery options on the desktop version of eBay after I get a tracking number, then everyone should be covered ??.
It's just i refuse to use Evri as I've had a couple of awful experiences with them, and I pride myself on keeping the customer happy.
I had hoped to send the item today
Many thanks again

The thing is that i don't have a clue how the Evri thing works.
I've never done it before and I'm just not happy about it

After you've sorted out the tracking you should be able to cancel the Evri label to get a refund - here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/claims/simple-delivery/refund/seller
Or if the buyer paid for it it will be refunded automatically in 30 days.

Hi @@rocco1504 ,
That's understandable based on your previous experience. It works like a normal label. Print it off, attach to your package and drop off at a post office/drop off location. If you don't print labels you can get the QR code and have them scan it at a post office/drop off location and send the item that way.
Thank you,
Kat

Hi Kat
Well that was nice and simple, but I'm still not overly happy about using Evri.
But i did want to say thank you so much for your help, I would have been trying for an answer for age's if you hadn't advised me.
Many thanks again and have a lovely weekend.
Regards
Paul

Probably won’t help for this order but you can go into simple delivery settings and choose to only allow Royal Mail.
eBay increase the price if you only select one courier and they do have a caveat that it is possible they may select an alternative courier if the item isn’t possible to be sent via Royal Mail for any reason

I’ve just reported EVRI for its lazy driver who dumped the parcel way out of sight of my house, by the road fence, and drove off. Couldn’t be bothered to turn in, drive up the drive and round into the courtyard and ring the door bell, or else leave it on the doorstep. They’ve changed the name from Hermes to EVRI but they can’t change the nature of the service.
