I’m selling an item on buy it now and am trying to lower the asking price. I set it up and it then tells me I have to change the starting date but there is no option to change this
If you've had any offers you won't be able to change much at all. You'd have to end it early (via the dropdown menu arrow for it on your selling list) and relist with the new price.
