"Mark as dispatched" - gone

As a private seller paying postage costs on all my listings I sometimes have two separate orders from the same buyer.  Previously I would pay for and print a label for one, but include both in the parcel and mark the other as "dispatched".  But now with Simple Delivery there is no option to mark the second item as dispatched.  Is there a way around this so that Ebay does not think I have failed to send the second one?

I am on a Mac laptop. I have tried in Safari and Chrome. I've also tried on my iPhone. There really is no way. That's lucky yours still works though!

I think that's the case re people being exposed to different software! I've tried on my laptop on multiple browsers, and on my phone as well. No joy on any of it, sadly!

Hi, actually, you can opt out of Simple Delivery, and eBay give you a whole list of options including Royal Mail 2nd Class.  I listed some items a couple of weeks ago & I was ble to do this- although I can't remember exactly what the procedure was...

I think you've answered to the wrong person,  I wrote that it doesn't work for me and nor does it to countless others I was also counting the poster who says they can mark as dispatched to be lucky,  as no one else seems to be able too.

If it's any help, I'm using a PC with Chrome to list things, and for all my eBay buying & selling.

Correct,  you can opt out of Simple Delivery but only for the items which are exempt,  lightweight items under 100g,  those under £10 in value,  and oversize items,  over 30 kg.  DHL now handles ' bulky items'.

You also of course,  not opt out,  but  do not Have to use SD ,  and use your own postage,  but you'd have to add your tracking manually, and of course lose SD seller protection.

That is,  when an item is lost or damaged in transit you would have to refund, eBay refunds in those cases if using Simple Delivery.

I've had a similar  issue. Customer bought 2 items. I saw they had a postage discount  so printed that label. However, the other label is still available to print. I put both items in one envelope but now am thinking the non printed label has a tracking reference.  Should I have posted them separately  for future reference does anyone know

??

To be on the safe side,  if the buyer has purchased 2 separate items,  paid for 2 separate postage costs,  then,  yes sen them separately, as you will have the protection of 2 tracking numbers.

Send them together use one label,  then one payout can be held for 14 days or longer before release,  but even more worryingly,  the buyer could open a case for item not received,  and there's no proof the item was sent.

It's a faff , but best to cancel then orders citing  ( with the buyer's acceptance)  Buyer Requests to Cancel.

This fully refunds the buyer.  Relist them together,  for the buyer to buy again.  Then,  there's one tracking n umber for the 2 items.

Hi thanks for the info. I saw that the buyer had one of the postage discounted so only used that one. Then realised there was the other label and that had a tracking ref. I Googled  after I'd sent only to read I should use both labels and send them separately.  Ebay have never really clearly explained. I message the buyer to say they had been sent as one parcel. It may be a learning curve.  Fortunately they are not  expensive items if I don't get a payment.   Thanks Barbara Sent from Samsung Mobile on O2

I am sorry you are having these problems. As a business seller I don't even have the option of combining orders to save on postage. I recently had a customer wanting all 3 of a product I sell but didn't want to pay the postage fee for all 3 and ebay support were no help. So what I ended up doing is asking the customer to pay for all 3 and I refunded immediately the postage for 2 of the items.  I imagine this option is available for private sellers as well just to retain customers and providing the customer service we all like to provide.

Why is this ?

Have you auto pay set on your account ?

Or is this a shape of things to come to Business' on this once decent platform?

I think a sign of things to come unfortunately. Ebay is not listening to
its seller customers both private and business so I think they will lose a
good number before they realise which is sad.

I'm a private seller and it was an auto postage discount which eBay did. The confusion is is that a label is availablefor each item but each had a different reference number. Can Ebay clarify that 2 packages should be sent so that
A) I get my payment
B) the buyer doesn't claim to have received only one item even though i put 2 in one parcel.
C) I don't get a negative feedback I have 100% record

The safest way for 2 separate purchases to be sent under Simple Delivery,  is to use each label for each item to post.

If you post them together,  in theory yes,  a buyer can open a case for item not received, and you'd have no proof that 2 items were posted .

With feedback, if a buyer is unhappy about how they experienced a transaction , they can if they wish,  leave a negative feedback.

Hi, I've just had an email from eBay this morning, & the Simple Delivery opt-out has been increased to items up to £20 in value.  It only seems to apply to certain items, like coins & stamps- There must be a list of the exempt items somewhere...

You would think,  hope,  there'd be an eBay Announcement >> News update,   as a list of what is what isn't exempt from SD especially if the value has increased to £20.

It would be a great help to peeps, not least of all to anyone here trying to give out information which seems to be changing at a remarkable rate !

Well!  As if by magic as soon I wrote the post above , I received an eBay message confirming this:

We’ve listened to your feedback and made Simple Delivery optional for more items priced £20 or less. This includes items in categories like Trading cards, Coins and Stamps, which are typically letter or large letter-sized and 100g or under.

I looked on Google, & it seems there are other items you can sell without Simple Delivery, you just have to choose Custom Delivery...  I usually manage to sell things with my own label & postage, although this is quite hard sometimes as eBay doesn't seem to like you doing this..

I wish they'd just go back to letting us sort out our own postage, like they used to do...
