Ebay is now forcing me into SD with no custom delivery option
The largest postage offered under SD is 61cm
There seems to be no way to list anything over 61cm and get the correct postage, even if you declare the dimensions in the listing height, width etc
anyone figured out what to do or does ebay just want us to take large items elsewhere?

Their intention wasn't to simply anything it's just marketing spin for the financial gains they sought by forcing most postage to be bought from ebay.
Sadly in the developed world it seems to have become acceptable to lie to everyone if you are big enough not to be held to account.

Thank you but cannot see that link on my listing page (01/07/2025). They don't even list the Evri size options

I found out if you put the sizes in the specifics which are larger than medium parcel then the oversize option comes up. 🙂

First they add a buyer prevention fee
Then they make you jump through hoops to get your own money
Now they're preventing you from listing oversize items
I spent ages on the phone to CS specialist listing department who quite frankly didn't have a clue.
I put out a message to Marco - guess what, it's been ignored.
The whole thing is a complete shambles from a so called professional global business that employs nothing but idiots whose sole aim is to destroy it.
And I have to say, they've made a cracking start!
100% believing that Ebay is on the way to destroy private sellers . When business become too big , strange distortions happen. Software developers are useless , no one cares when there is something clearly wrong . Yesterday on the call to Ebay i was met by a ebay person and when I asked him - how long he is with ebay working - the answer was - just lass than a year. So these people are on the front line to help and sort out problems. Big Fat Joke. What do we expect - pay little people peanuts . Fell i hit a concrete wall and have up and colse the call. That's it people. I am looking to other platforms to start listings.

My item was £80 and I just put a size larger than medium parcel in the specifics and the oversize option came up. I didn't need to alter the price. The size I put was 70 x 50 x 50. Maybe if its just 1cm over medium sizes (61 x 46 x 46 or whatever it is) then you do have to alter the price...whatever it is it's certainly not simple.

I just tried this with a bulk load of military clothing and the size option in the specific is not there. If you add them in manually it does not work. I may have to chose bulk listing option or something and see if sizes are in there otherwise I am back to square one.
The 1st item i tried was a leaf blower which is larger than medium package and has a size option (Wonder if it makes a different if you put in a certain weight too?). But selling multiple items where the overall size is not in the specifics it looks like we will have to make smaller job lots...what a mess and a big step backwards.

It’s strange
i tried this before and it didn’t work
i just tried it again and hey presto
thanks
one down hundreds of problems to go 🤣
suggestion for ebay
when someone is selling a chair or a table please don’t default to simple delivery as even Houdini couldn’t get it into a medium sized parcel . It must automatically default to custom
unless it’s a dolls house one

There appears to be so many variables that it is impossible to get a single solution for everyone - the only thing that I can suggest is to jiggle about with the overweight and oversize and over £750 in the hope of getting the right combination that can worm its way through Ebay's wall of obstruction.

Maybe ebay expect you to cut the item down to size?
If ebay expected the SD heat would go away when they made a few concessions a month ago they were much mistaken as the proposition is still not working / fit for purpose so the anger will continue as people keep hitting blockers in ebay stopping them doing what they expect/need to do.

thanks for the giggle

🤭
thing is eBay may be slow in sorting out their problems which they know about as they monitor these boards
tomorrow in the community chat im expecting answers to this problem like I’ll add your account to the ticket for the problem , err no, it’s affecting many people, it’s not just my account it’s your system
or it’s an issue at our end and we will update you when it’s been fixed
it shouldn’t need to be “fixed”
it should have been sorted before the launch of the marvelous new system
imo they should have employed uk people from Royal Mail and a clerk (do they still exist?) they would have sorted this mess out in a week max not months and months and still not operational
a billion dollar company being incompetent in the most basic of things is amazing
what’s the reason I ask
if it goes on and on and on and on I might subscribe to the conspiracy theories of they want to get rid of all private sellers

I agree. The situation is ludicrous. First, eBay add commission & tell everyone its a Buyer Protection Fee, which I suppose it is in Mafiosa terms. Then this wretched Simple Delivery because they found another way to make money: eBay are paid by EVRI for the business, above & beyond carriage price.
There are so many circumstances in which this "simple" way for eBay to increase their income doesn't work at point of sale.
The scheme doubtless was formed in the hands of some recently qualifed finance student, with no conception at all about the difficulties - indeed, impossibilities - at the selling end.
And yes, I think the inevitable conclusion, on top of all this, is that eBay really want private sellers to disappear. Considering the potential market for used goods, whether household or antiques & collectables, you'd think they'd exploit private sellers, not finish them off.

Thanks kindly, but very sadly, your solution does not work for lower value items - one I’m selling is £60 and 80cms long (antique game). There is no way to add dimensions in detailed description, and over-size is NOT an option in postage only. Suspect same for 99.999% of private sellers, 100% of whom, if they've realised Simple Postage is now enforced, will be as annoyed as I am !
Had a ‘shout’ at an agent today, who, kindly, put a report in to the technical team, and said he’d call me back when fixed (yeah, yeah), but felt like he was having a ‘bad day’ as assume I’m not only one suggesting this is a big ‘f*8k up’ by ebay, badly thought out and even worse in terms of technical roll-out.
02-07-2025 10:12 AM
sadly, your suggestions do not work - ebay has major problems with this badly thought out process change, as customise is no longer available to private sellers and Simple Postage is heavily restricted in terms of options - look at other posts saying same thing.
02-07-2025 11:32 AM
You have to follow exactly what I posted step by step otherwise it will not work. It does work for low value items provided you start with the listing at above £750. I have just done it with an item at £30.

Having to rely on the sizes in the specifics is not a good idea. As the item may be medium size. But once it's packaged up it may be bigger than medium. Buyers want to know the size of the item not the packaging so there is no point in putting that in as it will make it item not as described.
I tried to list some lighting which is L1475 x W85 x H75mm (L 1600mm in the box) and it recommended small parcel lol I contacted ebay and they said try putting the weight in which i did (8kg) and still nothing above medium parcel.
I thought maybe you HAVE to chose a size which is in the drop down menus. But none of the sizes there match the actual size of the lights. I tried converting it to inches, again there is no option to match the lights size.
I also have a job lot of Military Clothing to list. But there is no option to put in a size, I tried in collectable Militaria, tried bulk clothing, tried job lots ETC and still nothing.
It seems like you have to keep guessing until it lets you have the correct postage and so far I have multiple items I can only list as collect only.
I hope the 16 items I have ending tomorrow won't be automatically changed to some dumb postage that doesn't match the item. Otherwise I may have to cancel and sell it to the buyer outside of ebay if their system doesn't allow me to post items.
I hope there is a opt out soon and I will go back to Parcel2Go as this UNsimple delivery is a joke.

Got a reply from ebay again:
Thank you, Philip!! I was able to replicate the issue you are having, and have sent a detailed report to our Technical Support team. One of two things will happen now. If it's a quick fix, it should be resolved on the site within 48 hours. If not, we'll start an investigation until it's fully resolved. We appreciate you taking the time to work with us on this issue. Thank you so much for your time, and for reaching out to eBay Support. I hope this helps put your mind at ease, and you have a fantastic rest of your day!
Poor staff in the support department are probably fed up with the new system too lol.

It seems like ebay are currently allowing you to specify 'oversized' in some categories but not others. For me it lets me specify oversized in fishing rods, but not in furniture / sofas. As your examples suggest even in a category like clothing where the vast majority of items will fit below 61 x 46 x 46cm there will be exceptions. Clearly ebay are trying to limit the number of categories where sellers can opt out whereas they might be better off thinking how they could make simple delivery more attractive so people would not want to opt out.
