The new when we get paid rules from February.

Ebay was always heavily weighted in favour of the Buyers, but this new mad rule thats coming in next month about having to wait two days after delivery is confirmed to get paid is simply beyond the pale.

And sometimes delivery conformation never comes, apparently in that situation we have to wait 14 days to get our money.

This is disgusting and completely nuts. A self-destructive move from Ebay.

Totally agree.  I wont be using ebay for much longer.  Very unfair for sellers.

I haven't actually had a dodgy buyer yet. The closest I came to it was what I think must have been a sarcastic comment.

They said I should learn to pack better so models don't break. So I contacted them as soon as I saw it, apologizing and they told me not to worry about it. Weird.

But the rest seem to appreciate it, yes.

Because I can't build/paint models, shaking condition, when I receive broken models because a seller hasn't taken due care I get really annoyed. But receiving them like that has also allowed me to learn loads of ways how not to pack them.

As I don't like it happening to me, I try my damnedest to make sure I don't do it to others.

The above actually covers one of the only times I never left a seller feedback.

They tried their best, packing wise, I could tell that as soon as I opened the package, but they didn't think what they did through. They put a rock solid piece of foam above a model, directly against the outer edge of a box...

Basically what they guaranteed was if anything hit the top of the box, the hit would transfer straight through to the model. Exactly what happened. It arrived in pieces.

I spoke with them and explained it but I can't leave them honest feedback because it feels harsh. I know they tried their best.

My first feedback received after the new rules, buyer did give me good feedback, but it said " product good, packaging bad" I was flabbergasted to be honest, but I did reply to the feedback saying that I didn't understand the bad packaging comment as buyer hadn't contacted me and I always wrap items in bubblewrap/tissue and then cardboard and a waterproof mailing bag in an attempt to ensure they arrive safely, I have had many feedbacks about how well I package items, unsure if he was referring to the retail box it came in or my packaging.

Like you I learned how to pack well through experience on how I received some items (I once bought a large glass yankee candle, with glass plate and shade from someone on Ebay and I kid you not when postman handed me it,  was a paper bubble bag, it was like a bag of crisps, when I opened it, very carefully of course, everything was shattered, no bubble wrap or box at all whatsoever.)

I do wonder if this is how things are going to proceed going forward, that buyers are going to jump on and complain about anything they perceive to be a fault, things are getting made much more difficult for the good genuine private sellers out there, whom I fear are going to leave Ebay altogether.

I think that’s the point, a load of people will consider that the hassle, risks and delays just aren’t worth the small amount of money made each month and will use gumtree, boot sales, local auction houses to get rid of unwanted items. Quite why eBay thought that this new system was better than the old one I can’t fathom. In the good all days, sellers paid the fees and everyone was happy with that approach.

I sold an item on 7th Feb, because it was too large for RM, it had to go by Parcelforce, who don't collect over the weekend, so it was collected on 10th and delivered on the 11th. The money has taken until 13th to be on ebay balance, and even though withdrawn can take up to two working days to get into my account, which means it could be 17th of Feb. before it reaches me. In the mean time, I had to find the money for the postage, and the buyer raised no complaints about the item, so what could ebay possibly use as an excuse as to why the funds weren't sent to me as soon as the payment was made, other than their own patently obvious greed? I certainly am not going to be using any proceeds from sales to buy items on ebay, unlike before, and will always now transfer funds to my bank account as soon as they are available.

I've started a new thread for the idea for eBay to offer a faster payment option..

It is called:  "eBay needs an Express Same Day Payout Option"

Feel free and welcome to post your thoughts there too to support this idea if you would much prefer eBay to offer a faster payment option

Has a new system of not being paid accross all listings been in force yet? thinking of selling a few items, as have not sold anything for over a year on this site when promoted listings kicked in and would not show our items. Just wondered if anything has changed in anyones experience? if not, may as well just  eventually shut down our account, as wont be buying anymore on here either when we used to buy virtually everything on here except food shopping!

Yes, you missed the last gasp of freedom, the new system came in on 4th of Feb. Now you have to send the item and it has to be delivered and even then it takes a few days for the payment to appear on your ebay balance.  That's soonest. If you send it untracked, and can't show delivery, it will take fourteen days for them to send the payment to you. I'm going to start drawing down my listings as they end and not relist. Better that than enable the blobs at ebay to muck me around even more than previously.

I think delayed payments for private sellers is fully in. Open to correction.

With regard to promoted listings, I think it depends what you are selling and what the competition is. I have never promoted a listing but I still manage to sell stuff in the collectibles categories.

Yes it's in place already, I sold an item last week, posted it quickly, tracked 48 hour, payment was held by Ebay and didn't go into my account until 2 days after delivery confirmation on the Ebay system, to be honest, it did go OK and I did receive the funds ok, the promoted listing issue only seems to have got worse, viewings of items has been going down consistently over past few months, if your not paying to promote, your items, you just don't seem to be getting viewings , thinking of closing my account too after over 20 years, I used funds from selling for my purchases on here, but to be honest I'm barely selling items anymore and barely purchase anything on here either

Unbelieveably suicidal for this site! Think they have recruited someone from a rival site to spy and be paid to purposely wreck it, so they do better and get rid of what was near perfect competition!

Royal Mail picks my stuff up from my home. I don't have to go anywhere.

So, If they want to make it mandatory then this needs to change!

- Can I arrange for my item to be collected?
Collection is not currently available for Simple Delivery.

If you would like your item collected, you should opt out of Simple Delivery when creating your listing.

If eBay supply you with a Royal Mail label then collection is available.  The bit that you copied and pasted relates to the original pilot scheme for Simple Delivery where the only carrier option was Evri.  Whether it will be possible for a seller to stipulate the carrier they wish to use is not yet known.

Posting and tracking your items

When your eligible item sells, you'll receive a delivery label and QR code and you can then post your item. If you don't have a printer, you can bring the QR code to a drop-off location and the carrier will print the label for you. When you're creating your delivery label, you'll be provided with a link to the carrier's website with a list of drop-off locations.

Collection is available for items sent through Simple Delivery with Royal Mail labels only. You can book a collection on the Royal Mail website after you create your Simple Delivery label.

Further thoughts..... by holding onto sellers' money for 2 weeks (untracked items) - unless +ve feedback is received - I believe this removes the incentive to post out as quickly as possible.

1. Because if you don't get your money, the only value item you have left is your time. If you make a point of e.g. walking up to the Post Office every day (or even driving) why "waste" your time / petrol when you won't get paid for 2 weeks or 2 weeks + 2 days?

2. If you do drive to post items or have to pay in any way to arrange collection then money can be saved by posting 2 or 3 times a week rather than every day - I am sure sellers have better things to do than rush off to post items all the time or constantly organise collections.

You still have to dispatch on time as simulated in the order or you'll
leave yourself open to an item not received claim. And don't forget eBay
can issue a refund. If your listenings say 2 day dispatch you simply
dispatch all orders from the 2 days in 1 drop off

Not according to this screenshot - payments have to clear first which is in 2 weeks:

Buy your postage directly from Royal Mail online and not through eBay.
You'll have the options for home collection and whether they should bring a
label. You'll have a tracking number which you manually put in on eBay &
mark as dispatched following collection or drop off. The tracking number
will still update as delivered on eBay unless the lazy postman registers it
as delivered.

That's exactly what I do already, or, for larger items, use Parcelforce. Often neither service is the most expensive, and buyers understand the costs prior to purchase, so I'd say this is no real hardship when compared to the other changes enforced upon us all.

Totally agree, but will eBay let you have the funds to buy postage directly off Royal Mail's site ?... or will you have to fork out for this separately from your own pocket and then wait to be reimbursed several days later once eBay finally let you have your buyer's money ??
