I'd much rather pay the original private seller selling fee for the convenience of being able to have quick instant payments once again on eBay rather then now having to keep on waiting around many days for my sales money which is not very convenient at all.
If eBay really want to sort this, Then why can't we be given a choice of paying a SAME DAY faster payment clearance fee which would let us have our money QUICKER if needed ?
In business, I always believe flexibility and choice is very important - eBay really need to think about this and offer a quicker payment service if one is prepared to pay a little extra for this useful service.
For those who don't wish to pay anything and are happy to wait many days for their sales money from eBay to be released... eBay should just give the option of standard payment something like the example below:-
eBay Express Same Day Payout (small fee involved)
eBay Standard Payout typically 2 - 14 days (free of charge)
If eBay seems to favour changes so much, then why can't they give us a positive change for once where it is useful and will also make them some more money ? - Sounds good ?...
Let's be honest, quicker payments after an items sells on eBay are far more useful in today's world where some people on low incomes might be struggling to make ends meet with the costs of living constantly increasing...
So a faster payment option for a small fee to eBay would work well for anyone who needs fast track payment on the same day they sold something on eBay without having to wait a long time.

Brilliant idea and suggestion. That way it gives sellers a choice which I think would go down well.

It's a nice idea, but ebay won't do it. First, ebay want to drive as many Private Sellers to register as Business Sellers. Right now, the changes haven't impacted them because that's what ebay want all sellers to be, or at least as much as possible. That's why any changes to the new system won't be implemented unless people really do stop using ebay en mass. Even then, ebay are making sellers, all sellers, have to accept the condition of sale being that their funds, which buyers supposedly pay to a seller for their goods, are held on ebay balance unless they are withdrawn. There is no reason for the payment not to be instant, no reason for the payment not to go through to a seller's bank account. After all, ebay has those details already. No, they do it to supposedly encourage us all to spend the money on ebay rather than transferring it to our bank accounts as once happened. Can you imagine how much money that means ebay now holds on their balance that rightfully belongs to sellers? Ebay is not a financial institution, as Paypal is, yet they are holding our money back, are holding it until we tell them to send it to our account, and the extra income from that makes it worth not charging fees. Does anyone think if fees made them more money than what they're doing now that they'd have changed the system? However, make no mistake, given them six months, a year tops, until people have stopped grumbling about what they implemented at the beginning of February, and the fees will return. That's why your suggestion, as reasonable as it is, will never be ebay policy. They won't do it because in the long term it will be wait for your payment, etc. AND have to pay fees for the privilege. The one constant in ebay's behaviour has been their ever increasing greed. It is ruining the experience for many here and, as often happens, it will eventually result in ebay being superseded by another site. Instead of encouraging people to sell and buy here, they are doing exactly the opposite, simply because they think inertia and the lack of a currently credible competitor will keep people here. It is short sighted and a fundamentally flawed vision, and in time they'll learn that.

Great post with a lot of sense. I'm not keen on all the new policy changes now coming in March.
One thing that is crossing my mind is that does ebay holding funds like they have started even slightly come under the umbrella of profiteering ?

Cheers, and yes, it does. It will be interesting to see exactly how long they think they can get away with this behaviour before it bites them.

Thanks for that response.

Unfortunately this delayed payment policy is going to be detrimental for eBay. As an auction platform this may work, as typical auction fees are between 20 - 30% outside of eBay, so this delayed payment process could be beneficial to eBay and the Seller. As a Buy it now platform this is not in the interest of the seller. As you could sell on other online platforms and get paid immediately. After 20+ enjoyable years with eBay I am learning about selling on social media. 😢😢😢
Its a shame that someone within the eBay hierarchy has not been able to come up with a better solution for the future of eBay.

eBay needs a new CEO who is more sensible and who is not motivated by constantly competing against other sites like Vinted and making RASH changes which are now having disastrous consequences for eBay and it's private seller members who have now been unjustly targeted and singled out by what looks like a vindictive vendetta campaign to make life harder for the private seller who is minding their own business and trying to sell a few bits on eBay in order to supplement their LOW INCOME in order to exist in today's world where the cost of living is now so high.
eBay already had the BIG advantage of having one of the best and quickest payment systems online but now they have NOTHING. They ruined everything with string of rash un-thought out changes for the sake of vanity.

Ebay is its own worst enemy.
Their moral is "if it aint broke, break it"
Or "If it works, find a worse way of doing it"
