The new when we get paid rules from February.

Ebay was always heavily weighted in favour of the Buyers, but this new mad rule thats coming in next month about having to wait two days after delivery is confirmed to get paid is simply beyond the pale.

And sometimes delivery conformation never comes, apparently in that situation we have to wait 14 days to get our money.

This is disgusting and completely nuts. A self-destructive move from Ebay.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

Thought there would have to be something like that; ebay wouldn't want to be paying out for people who've sent a telly in a paper bag!

I'd much rather pay the original private seller selling fee for the convenience of being able to have quick instant payments again then having to keep on waiting around for my money which is not convenient at all.

And for those who don't wish to pay and are happy to wait many days for their sales money eBay should just give the option of standard payment like example below:-

Express Same Day Payout (small fee involved)

Standard Payout 2 - 14 days (free)

EDIT:

If eBay seems to favour changes so much, then why can't they give us a positive change for once where it is useful and will also make them some more money ? - Sounds good ?

Don't worry for one single minute!!

Once the current raft of new restrictions are bedded in and working as intended 🙄  exactly that (apart from the fee being small) is without doubt already on the drawing board.

You should know ebay by now,  there's no point inventing another income stream unless they can milk it for every penny they can squeeze out of it.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

Situations like this happen because ebay doesn't take packaging into consideration when charging postage it's just the cost to post what about when sellers don't have packaging bubble wrap etc are these things free no they cost almost as much as sending Sent from my Galaxy

But yes you can still sell for free,

But you forgot Sponsored Listing Fee, without paying that private sellers are highly unlikely to sell anything much at all.

Take the marketing ploy away and ebay for private sellers is still Free to List but definitely not "Free to Sell" because in order to sell they effectively have to sponsor their listings.  If they don't it becomes "Free to Sell Nothing".

In addition to being at the back of the visibility queue, after mostly businesses who will sponsor, private sellers will now be expected to reduce their prices to cover the BPF or stand out like sore thumb among the more popular "Round Number" prices of un-affected businesses.

Put up with ebay inflating prices on SD which will become compulsory, putting them at a further disadvantage to businesses that will still be able to choose the most economic service for their buyers.

And put up their funds being Held for up to 14 days then have them transferred to ebay's "Wallet" before they can manually 'request' them transferred to their bank account (with further delay).

Please also remember that one of the CEOs stated reasons for transferring private seller's funds to their 'Balance / Wallet' was that they will use those funds to buy from Business Sellers, or so he hopes.

Please tell me, as a private seller, is there anything in there that benefits me in any way?  To me it looks like another bit of ebay one-sidedness heavily in favour of business sellers that loads yet more inconvenience, complications and delays onto private sellers while favouring businesses, as usual.

But sponsored is an option

Give over !

NOTHING IS FOR FREE.  THIS IS A WHITE LIE.

If selling on eBay was truly free for private sellers (like you say), Then why are eBay delaying payments so that they have enough time to invest the SELLER'S MONEY somewhere to pick up daily or weekly interest FOR THEMSELVES ? - Why not give the seller this extra interest and offer a TRULY FREE SERVICE WHICH IS GENUINE ?... Or better still give Private sellers PROMPT INSTANT PAYMENT ONCE AGAIN.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

That's why I use almost always special delivery, keep far away scammers. And get money quickly,in 48 hours after delivery. I don't care what complain some buyer ,if they said ,too expensive the post costage. Really? When you spend £450 for a phone is it not expensive?? Blocked immediatelly and cancelled order.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

I take it you've never bought from Amazon, or any other online retailer, who takes your money and then sends your item. No, you can't inspect what you buy online, which is why ebay and paypal have protection for buyers so they can get their money back if the item is not as described, arrives damaged, etc. To be blunt, I have had three things delivered recently that I bought on ebay since the changes and the packaging was shocking. Clearly those people knew they would only get paid once the item was delivered, so they bundle it out as fast as possible, but that means no time to pick the right box, the right packing material and package it properly. While the item contents were okay, the boxes they came in were bent, crushed and not at all as shown on the listing. When you buy collectables, as I do, the packing is important, especially on rare items, so what do you do about that? You file a claim, about bashed boxes? You have to go through the process, but you still don't get the item as shown, which you've looked for a long time because now the box is crushed that item no longer exists. Ebay haven't done this for buyer's benefit because what we'll see is the situation I describe only getting worse. Eventually, what will happen is what sometimes happens with Amazon, an item is put in the post with no protective box, just a label slapped on the item itself and into the post it goes. More items will end up damaged,  which will lead to lower customer satisfaction and a lower likelihood of buying on ebay. One thing is for certain, the current system favours no one but ebay, they are leeching from private sellers and have tried to come up with ever increasing ways of  obtaining money and hanging onto it. One thing is for sure, as soon as that money from a sale is available, I'll be transferring it to my bank, and I advise all private sellers to do the same. If ebay want to make things harder for us, take your business elsewhere, and stop spending your money on ebay items. After all, if I sell five things, I have to find the funds to send those items without access to the money that buyers have sent to pay for the postage. That money was sent to pay for the postage of items the buyer now legally owns, yet I don't get paid for either the items or the postage until close to a week later, at best, in many cases. How is that equitable?

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

All these new rules, not paid till delivery, add on coupon prices to buyers to protect?. What is going on? . This is totally destroying my seller experience. Just after i was sent an email telling me my selling had improved in recent times. Ebay always protected the buyers, even if you have a no returns account?.... More than fed up with this. Maybe they want to shut some of us down?. And i'm not surprised about loyalty. It dosen't exist anywhere.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

In theory yes, but you know as well as I do from the numerous threads and posts on the subject, many sellers report that without paying to sponsor they get no views, no questions and very few sales, if any.

As Sponsorship Fees are now an important part of ebay's revenue and about the only one that's been growing for several years, it would appear that a great many sellers would agree and pay up to get some visibility.

I was just reading about simple delivery.

From how i understand it Ebay will only pay for breakages or damage in transit IF the item is properly packaged.   There is a section on exactly how sellers must package their items.    Obv its open to debate IF ebay consider the packaging was sufficient.

Below the part telling you exactly how any items should be packaged......

These tips are general guidelines. We can’t be held responsible if your item is damaged in transit.

Interesting.  I'd already been thinking that it will  be likely that particularly browned off sellers will be deliberately packing inadequately, so as to "stick it to the man".

But this makes it seem as though ebay plan to  cover damage in transit, except when they decide not to.  And knowing how things go around here, that means they'll always decide not to.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

Does this mean in theory that a seller should photograph / video the item being packaged and labelled to prevent spurious claims - this will add significant time to the process.... ebay could be inundated with claims. It seems they are making a rod for their own back - they are sort of falling between the old ebay (seller handles the postage) and Amazon (who have their own delivery system and pack your goods for you if you ship to them). I am not sure this will be financially viable because they won't be able to guarantee delivery time (tracked does not always work), Royal Mail is probably becoming overloaded with Tracked post as it is.

I used to do this all the time and film all my items being packed carefully via a Go Pro camera.

Sadly eBay do not allow any seller to upload video evidence on to their dispute system which is rather silly... but never the less this video could still be used at the small claims court if the item was very expensive and an dishonest buyer is trying to commit fraud by forcing an unlawful refund through eBay's poor resolution system which seems to support scammers... giving no real facility for a vulnerable seller to defend themselves fairly.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

So if this happens is the claim against the buyer/scammer or against ebay (ruling against you)?

Has anyone any out there had experience of this process?

If video evidence proves a claim then there may be a lot of this going on in the future, it wouldn't take many cases being ruled against them to make ebay at least allow uploaded video in appeals, especially if it creates a precedent. Royal Mail take photos of the item for "Signed For" (I think) because I have seen that for some items I send so ebay should have access to that.

Never had to use this myself but this is a good insurance policy if things were to go wrong on eBay and it's an expensive item involved.

If you have good video evidence it's worthwhile paying around £80 and taking the matter to the small claims court if eBay fails to deliver fair justice and the item value is below £1000 pounds.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

Probably best to take the photos of the packaging process, and also send them to the buyer to make them aware of "evidence" upfront and inform them that the item is being sent out. At least that way the video is in the ebay Messaging system and could be referred to at a later date - a way of introducing it into the appeal?
