Ebay was always heavily weighted in favour of the Buyers, but this new mad rule thats coming in next month about having to wait two days after delivery is confirmed to get paid is simply beyond the pale.
And sometimes delivery conformation never comes, apparently in that situation we have to wait 14 days to get our money.
This is disgusting and completely nuts. A self-destructive move from Ebay.

This is why it's seen as harassment if more than one request has been sent, it is also a pet peeve of mine, I have had sellers literally begging for feedback, which does the opposite effect as I'm less likely to leave feedback at all.

Is it harrassment if buyers are told in the item description that they must leave feedback as soon as the item arrives to release the payment (as I’ve seen some members of this forum say they’ll be doing? And this ‘feedback request’ - is that a specific thing that can be clicked just once?
What’s to stop the messaging system being used to demand feedback? How many peevish sellers will be tempted to leave a negative on a green dot for buyers who refuse to leave feedback? Don’t tell me this won’t happen or it can be easily removed….it happens a lot now and can only increase, along with the rise in CS calls about payment release etc….its going to be a right mess.

eBay ignores / will ignore whatever a buyer says in Seller Feedback, even if the buyer says "item received". eBay has said (see eBay FAQ) it will rely only on tracking info showing delivery has occurred.
As regards eBay holding onto seller funds for up to 14 days, that too will have nothing to do with whatever a buyer says in Seller Feedback.

They have said that positive feedback will give untracked the payment within 24 hours. It's not about what they say it's just the positive that counts

Experienced Mentor jckl1957's post is a lot more helpful than mine.
It includes the eBay quote:
'We’ve also heard your feedback and understand that shipping costs are particularly top of mind for low price items. When you’re selling a single item for £10 or less, and it’s sent untracked, funds will now be available 24 hours after you receive positive buyer feedback. This will be live by the end of February.'
I can't find how to delete a post of mine or even edit it, very sorry.

Really cannot believe all this is going on! havent sold or listed anything for way over a year after they started hiding items unless we paid extra on promoted listings! thought we may give it a try again and see if anything has changed, only to find out its got worse again! Looks like local auction houses to dispose of everything again and at least your guaranteed the money with a lot less hassle!

You must not have seen that it has been announced that for sales under £10 positive feedback (which means a green dot - you are right that the words used in the feedback will be meaningless) will release the funds, in addition to all previous advice that the only thing that will count is confirmed delivery via tracking. Hence my question re: sellers hounding buyers for feedback.
A second question is how well will this work? How likely is it that sellers will have to phone CS to get these funds released? I know I’ve said it before but it will be a mess.

Thanks, I found out only a few minutes ago but couldn't find out how to delete my post or if I could.
I've now been to read eBay's most recent announcement which makes some changes to their original plans.

That's an interesting back-pedal. But if SD is going to become mandatory at some point in Q1, as the CEO threatened (sorry, I mean promised), how is untracked going to fit into that?

I can't imagine untracked will fit into SD at all.
If, using SD, ebay (not the buyer) is responsible for refunding INRs , there may be some distinctly dodgy sellers not sending *anything*, and some dodgy seller/buyer *partnerships* claiming non-delivery. (seller gets cash, buyer gets item)
OK there will be algorithyms checking suspicious patterns/users, but there would definitely be an intitial rash of scams happening..... ?

Maybe ebay will avoid seeming to backtrack by announcing that items up to £10 won't be forced to use SD.
That kind of face saving could work for me, perhaps I'll be sticking around after all.

Also FYI in that same announcement they are now saying Buyer Fees will not apply in all categories tomorrow. Instead, they will start with Electronics and do a phased rollout "in the following weeks."

If they had any common sense eBay should CANCEL this silly hopeless Managed Delivery plan and uncalled for payment disruptions and just leave the site the way it has always been so people can get on and start enjoying eBay once again instead of fleeing eBay tomorrow 04th Feb 2025 like scared rabbits !
If I was CEO and in charge of eBay, I would return the site back to its formal glory and get rid of all these recent UNWANTED changes that most people clearly aren't happy with.

Sorry, haven't been able to ready today's comments.
I sold an item this morning, and payment is 'processing' - estimated funds on 3rd Feb.
I have read some posts on here that suggest Ebay always make payment just before midnight.
Does anyone know if this means the item is likely to fall into the 'new' system and I won't be able to withdraw the money for it until after the item is received by the Buyer?
I have it already packaged up and ready for RM to collect tomorrow but will cancel the order if I don't get the money first.
Thanks 🙂

My first thought was this was a petty thing to do because it’s like you are punishing the buyer for something that isn’t even their fault as they aren’t the ones holding the money back, it’s eBay who’s going to be doing that. Yeah, I hate that it’s happening as well.
But then again, you might be on to something there because what if we all did this. Maybe eBay would then think twice about the changes if we all just cancelled the order because we wanted our money first. That might actually finally get eBay’s attention.
But overall I would say hold your horses. As for now just go on as normal because as you have said already it’s packed and ready, so it would be advisable to just send it.
As it’s not the buyers fault this is happening to us the sellers.

My last sale was ‘processing’ for seven hours yesterday. It did indeed arrive in my balance just before midnight.
03-02-2025 8:09 PM
Will this be your last sale or were you not going to send this order because its not the 4th yet?

Thanks, that's a valid point about not being the Buyer's fault.
Also, as the Buyer has paid, Ebay won't be able to charge them the new Buyer Fee - so in theory the Order should not be assessed under the new rulings, which means I should be able to withdraw the money tomorrow, and not have to wait until delivery.
Since my post I arranged the parcel collection for tomorrow anyway, having decided to send it and hope I get my money tomorrow.
Luckily it is a fairly low value item in this instance.
