Simple Delivery

Is Simple Delivery mandatory now ? used to be able to select custom postage option but it’s not available now. Just tried listing and Simple Delivery is the only option for postage

Simple Delivery

Response from ebay regarding a buyer being charged 4 sets of postage for 4 items that can easily be sent in the same package at no extra cost for 1 postage price.

Items were sold by myself after the buyer used "Make an Offer" and I accepted, thus creating 4 separate orders.

Maybe "Make an Offer" items should be placed in the "Basket".

Absolute shambles.

"I'm sorry if you were provided with misinformation from previous agents on this issue.

Ebay Simple Delivery currently does not support combined postage after individual orders have been created. If a buyer purchases multiple items in a single transaction, eBay creates a multi-quantity order automatically, which combines the shipping.

However, once orders are placed individually, it is not possible to combine them for shipping with Simple Delivery because it requires new logic to assign the shipping service. This feature might become available in the future, but not in this current state.

I understand that you have been given much of this information previously, and so this response may not satisfy the resolution that you were hoping for."

Simple Delivery

Unfortunately, this is all indicative of a top down approach by eBay, one which isn't properly thought through.

Under Simple Delivery, anyone who wishes to send a Large Letter sized packaged by Royal Mail is automatically charged a minimum of £2.74 by eBay, even though it only costs £2.70  direct through the Royal Mail Tracked 48.

For items which are worth less than £20, there is no need to use Tracked 48.  Normal post is sufficient as they are still insured up to £20 by the Royal Mail and you can also receive proof of delivery from the QR code.  It is therefore pretty pointless spending £2.74 sending a Large Letter item worth just a few pounds by Tracked 48 when normal second class post is sufficient and only costs £1.55.

It is fine eBay having Simple Delivery as an option for those who wish to use it, however it should be just an option.  Making it compulsory is not just interfering, it is disrespectful and patronising to those who have successfully bought and sold on eBay for many years.
